Horror films

Horror In The High Desert 2 was very good. Really enjoyed the first one and this was great too. The last 20-30 minutes was so intense. Reminded me of when I first saw The Blair Witch Project at the cinema in 1999. The ending had me gripping my seat. Looking forward to the third as it sets it up, hopefully will answer some questions.
I watched this this afternoon and was sadly let down, the first one was so creepy and well put together building to that terrifying last 15 minutes. But this second one just had nothing going for it, it jumped from three different stories that had no explanation or connection and I was honestly... bored. The best part was the car scene with the white figure appearing in the background.

Watched Possession (1981) last night and all I can say is that it’s gonna be a long time before I can eat strawberry ice cream again

Yes, that was quite frustrating but I think deliberate. The last scene sets us up to find out what's really going on. 2 feels very disjointed purposely to hint a connection between all of them. It was definitely conceived as a trilogy. The acting this was not as great as the first. Hopefully the next will make it connect, which I think was the plan all along.

I truly hope so as the first was one of the rare films to make me on edge. The older couple mentioning they weren't human was a bit ???

Also Evil Dead Rises was a BLAST!

Spasms has all the right ingredients to be a b-movie classic (massive snake with a psychic connection to Oliver Reed, some good gore, and one particularly good set piece where it gets three Sorority girls)... but it does not mix.
We just never see enough snake (and the blue lensed p-o-v filter doesn't help), yet when we do it looks a lot better than most (but supposedly the Director hated it) and it builds to no ending.

(Also Oliver Reed's character demanding a proper kiss off his Niece.. yuck)

Re-watched When a Stranger Calls remake starring Camilla Bell's wooden acting and eyebrows. Sorry hoe's I still absolutely love this one. Nothing in it is as scary as the original's opening or ending yet it just works for me. Gorgeous house. The final cat and mouse is also pretty well done. Justice for Rosa!

Yeah I like it a lot too. I love that the house itself feels like a character in a way? And I remember it being pretty tense. I think I'm due for a rewatch.

It was a bit too PG13-ey and they botched the 'reveal' with that (actually creepy) opening credits scene, but glad the whole thing was set on the night of the babysitting and we didn't get that dull character study that bogs down an hour of the 1979 one.

When a Stranger Calls Back stays winning though.
