I've seen a lot of ads for Tarot on Insta. I can't decide if it looks really shit or quite good. What do you guys think?

Infested was a cute lil' Miss Muffet affair. The protagonist basically ruined absolutely everything but the different set pieces were excellent, characterization was strong and I can see why the director gets to do the next Evil Dead movie!

Watched Infested on Shudder. Definitely freaky enough for the scared of spider girlies like me yet it was lacking something to make it a complete slam dunk I expected based on all the good reviews. Still worth a watch for sure. Also the director (who's going to be doing an Evil Dead spinoff) can feel free to direct me anytime....

Tarot is formulaic pg13 screen gems horror. Glimpses of what could've been a decent outing, but the storyline was too generic to be memorable. A couple of death scenes had cool concepts but the rating doesn't allow them to do that much.

Eden Lake is so effective in leaving you absolutely hopeless at the end. That level of nihilism I've only felt after Wolf Creek and Martyrs (the original). I don't think I could watch any of those a second time.

'Arcadian' was very good. It's A Quite Place on a budget but just as effective. I thought the creatures were very good too, a little more imagination than usual. Both young actors were great. It's simplicity was very welcome.

Watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Damn, what a good little movie! Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch were excellent, and I love when a film does the "one location" thing well. Great stuff.

Also, props to the actress who played Jane Doe. Naked and immobile on that autopsy table. Had to be rough filming!

Watched the underwater masterpiece Leviathan. I really liked this one as a kid but it's just kind of there. Even with people like Stan Winston and Jerry Goldsmith involved it just seems like everyone involved was phoning it in despite a decent budget. One of the best endings of all time though.

I had the most horrible headache after watching Martyrs nn. It lasted for HOURS. I think it's the only movie that made me physically sick like that. That said, I... liked it, I think, but I'm fine with never, ever seeing it again.

I liked it much more a second time through and it's technically Queer Cinema!! but I feel like the stellar ending was so disjointed from the middling quality of the rest of it. I've heard good things about the squeakquel and I guess a third one is coming too. I plan on watching part 2 this weekend.

I've heard good things about the squeakquel and I guess a third one is coming too. I plan on watching part 2 this weekend.

The final like 10 minutes generally scared the shit out of me and I'm never scared of any movie. I was also alone watching it in the dark and took an edible though. It was pretty meh until the ending but so worth it in my opinion. The second one was overall less successful and I didn't like how it seemed to just want to set up another sequel. It had its creepy ass moments though and still worth it. Can't wait for the new one.
