Realising the Sonia Braga, AKA Samantha Jones' best love interest, was the Mother Superior at the end was the cherry on top.
WAIT I didn't register this! She really was a glorious queen in both instances, and absolutely Samantha's best match. I don't remember why they split -- it's been 3 particularly extra years in my life since I watched it all for the first time, then 1 (the most boring charmless episode ever) and 2 (I'm a mess but I got several jollies out of 2, some ironically, but some moments drew out sudden belly laughs. Maybe I was high? Or I'm hopeless dd). But! I'm sure it was something that could've been worked out/avoided if Carrie didn't have some dramatic agenda, right?

Anyway yas to The First Omen praise. I generally don't rate the "OoOoOh Spooky Catholics!" subgenre, but The First Omen was a very good time in my household.

Just watched Immaculate.

Meticulously crafted jump scares, a welcome departure from the banal Blumhouse concoctions.

Sidney Sweeney drifting through the darkness, clutching a solitary candle is the embodiment of cinema henny.

The final scene was an unmistakable initiation into the prestigious Scream Queen circle.

Also, can I get an amen for the irresistible charm of a precisely orchestrated picture, unveiling it’s wicked delights within a concise 90-minute timeframe.

The curse got passed on at the start I believe because he murdered someone with a witness - like the guy Rose visits in prison in the first one. So the entity was passed to Lewis, which freed Joel and then he got super unlucky running away… splat.

The Gemma thing is a bit confusing because I don’t think Skye’s mother acknowledges her being there despite being so insistent that Skye should get back in touch earlier in the film. She ignores her when she walks in and also doesn’t respond when Gemma waves at her at the end of the scene, which foreshadows that she’s just a projection by the entity that only Skye can see. But then the phone call that reveals it actually happens during the full hallucination sequence… so could be just a trick by the demon to scare Skye even more by thinking Gemma was never really with her. But either way events were still happening when Gemma first turned up.

The part that’s definitely not real starts with Skye waking up in the clinic and ends with her snapping back to reality at her concert. The entity took control of Skye’s body when the smiley dancer’s arm went down her throat, then presumably made her appear to act normal to her team so it could achieve getting her on stage for its big finish - while in her mind she thought she was beating it by trying Morris’s plan, and that she’d killed her mother. Evil!
Ddd smells of bad writing to me.

They knew the ending they wanted, but
to have the main character unravel so publicly throughout the film would never work so have gone for ye olde 'it was all a dream/hallucination' coda to crowbar it in.

I watched the 2012 version of The Woman in Black and it's still quite an effective film for me. I love both the 1989 and 2012 versions.
I remember seeing the actual play in London and then bought a seat dead centre two rows from the stage before realising that WAIT this is not a musical. I nearly didn't go because the place wasn't filled and if I remember correctly I was the only one in my seat in that row.

I just told myself, if you're being scared then you came to the right experience so buckle up! It was amazing. Best 20 pounds I spent!

As much a Dream Warriors is an amazing horror, it dman right pisses me off that in the iconic "Welcome To Prime Time, Bitch!" moment,
All you can hear is "Welcome Prime Time, Bitch!"

Also, I'm watching The First Omen, and Hens, I just got absolutely gagged by the first birth scene.

Finally watched through all of the Elm St movies. New Nightmare has a few good things going for it, namely that hospital scene, but everything after 3 was a bit of a chore to get through.
I watched New Nightmare when I was a kid and that hospital scene terrified me. I had trouble sleeping because I kept expecting Freddy to be on the ceiling

Yesss. One of my favourites of the year.

Just saw Smile 2 (without seeing the first one) and thought it was really good.

And it’s perfect PJ fodder: big pop girl! choreography! photoshoots! actually decent songs! horror!

Naomi Scott is a star and I actually wouldn’t be upset if she decided to have a second career as Skye Riley. I love that the songs are on Spotify.
