Horror films

WE NEED PART TWO!

I will never forgive James Wan for abandoning this!
Every day I pray for a Gabriel return! It's time ... to cut out ... our waiting.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is allegedly filming in Australia, but I still haven't heard anything about Jennifer Love Hewitt doing it. I can't imagine a reason she'd say no so I'm going to chalk this up to her schedule being full with 911 and once she wraps there she will join them. Crazy they haven't at least announced her return though.

Additionally, I decided to watch Terrifier because it's a slasher and I love slashers. I figured if there are 3 of them I should go ahead and give it a go. It was one of the worst things I've ever seen. I do give them credit for how good the film looked on a shoe string budget, but they apparently forgot a script and forgot to cast people who could act. Gore does not impress me and that's all the film had to offer. I've heard the sequels are better so I'm going to try and suffer through the second one, but I can't see this becoming a favorite franchise of mine.

Just watched Trap finally. I dunno. I was engaged, I wanted to know what happend, so it was a success on that level.

But my god, Director Daughter was baaaaaaad. Truly terrible acting. And boring ass concert. No wonder there were hundreds of people milling about all the time and not actually watching it. Such a bizarre film.

Her music was so bland as was her visuals. Like how was she a big star in this film???

Josh Harnett being in it and being topless, made the film worth it.

I loved Trap as a comedy. I had a blast watching it and even loved the popstar element, viewing it as a comedy. When we were leaving the theater all of my friends were pissed and looking at me like I was crazy for enjoying it so much. I truly thought that based on what I had watched that it was meant to be a dark comedy. It was so outlandish that nothing else made any sense. The scenes with the popstar at the killers house were so camp you couldn't tell me that wasn't meant to have me dying of laughter.

Of course realizing it was meant to be a thriller, I get people's reactions, but I guess I just went for the ride.

Nooo you were right at first, the comedy is baked in:

I mean the whole thing is so implausible so it has not be taken too seriously.

Cooper's interactions with everyone was quite funny and I mean eating pie at the end, like wth. Definitely was meant to be funny in parts.

Finally going to watch The Hunger (1983). Loved how stylish the trailer looked.

Looked up Heretic (2024). I had assumed it had already been and gone by now as I fancied putting it on.

I love The Hunger. It is so stylish. David Bowie gives a terrific performance and Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon are excellent.

The only thing about it is the ending is a bit confusing but I love the style and ambience of the film.

I did all 11* Halloween movies over the past 3 weeks. Randomly out of order, starting with H20, finishing with 5.

Preference as of 2024:
1. The OG - can't be beat
2. 4/Revenge of - classy all the way
3. 6/Curse of - pure fromage, but Paul Rudd looking hawt and it feels genuinely Halloweeny
4. H20
5. 2018
--> each of these does something well that the other doesn't, but H20 retains some fun, where as '18 is a bit of a miseryfest.
6. Halloween II
7. Resurrection - delete Busta, that retconning, and it's a dumb fun slasher pic
8. 3/Season of the Witch - love Carpenter's eye
9. Kills
10. 5/Revenge of. Tina.
666. Ends

*RZ ones do not count

Always forget how good The Crazies (2010) is. Just rewatched it on Netflix (UK) and it’s really holds up. Made me jump several times, Timothy Olyphant is gorgeous and it’s a bit of a different impact after Covid.
Need to give that a rewatch as I did remember enjoying it. Might ne my Halloween film.

Skye Riley honestly may be THE best fictional pop stars we have been blessed with - props to them giving us actual decent songs and lengthy sequences of them where most films don’t!

However….the ending?? I called the ending almost two thirds of the way through then
things took a turn, only to end up at the ending i suspected. Her killing herself in front of the crowd and passing the curse on to THOUSANDS of people at once is a great narrative - however everything from the hospital scene with her mum on was rendered pointless and almost frustrating as a viewer.
