I’m rewatching The First Omen and it is as beautiful, horrifying and haunting as the first time round.
That one death…that shit stays with you.

Fucking classic. The 4k restoration of The Fog is stunningly gorgeous. Something about classic John Carpenter is just magical. And yes, for the holidays!
I might like Prince of Darkness a BIT'T more nowadays, as it has just held up as scarier, but I love the classic ghost story feel of The Fog.Fucking classic.
Tom WellingYikes. How did we survive??
But if Pink-eyed Henny breaks my windows while trying to steal a tacky gold cross? I'm suing.Oh to be a late night radio DJ based in a lighthouse in a sleepy small coastal town.
I’d risk the leprosy pirates.
No one does cosy horror atmosphere like John Carpenter. I want to live in his movies. The 4k restoration of The Fog is stunningly gorgeous. Something about classic John Carpenter is just magical. And yes, for the holidays!
I enjoy Scream 5
and 6 for what they are, but obviously not going to beat Scream 1 and 2. 3 is a lot of fun and having revisited 4, I actually like that now (at the time I really hated it).(Dewey's death was poorly executed and stupid. He deserved a better end)
It's also still genuinely funny? Janet Leigh's character is a riot. I have always loved it but when I re-watch it, I'm still pleasantly surprised. John Carpenter is an expert at keeping things in the shadows. The Fog might just be my favourite horror film. It gets everything right.
His episode of Masters of Horror, Cigarette Burns, is also a rare late-career highlight for him. I hate that The Ward is...irredeemable.Carpenter has so many bangers. Even Christine, which was something he did as a jobber is so much fun.
