Horror films

I too watched this - yesterday. Total 5/10. Good idea, kinda flop execution. I failed to notice one of the murders entirely and wondered where the character had vanished to.

Wes Bentley with a shaved head though? Yes ploz.
I saw a snippet on social, so was intrigued. It was a great surprise to see Wes Bently in it. They really didn't utilise him enough.

Agreed, could have been better in the last section of the film. The kills and their scenes were so anticlimactic.

Saw Heart Eyes and Companion yesterday. Heart Eyes is good, some really original kills, masses of chemistry between the leads and the right amount of horror, comedy, thrills and camp. I'm glad it's got staying power.

Companion is really good. I only saw the first trailer months ago (ignoring all subsequent trailers so I went in blind, but someone spoiled it for me a week or so ago) but turns out that "spoiler" was in the subsequent marketing anyway and in the end it didn't spoil it at all. Some really strong ethical subtext/themes in there, momentum and twists and turns that kept me entertained right til the end. Definitely made with the discipline and attention to pace that Barbarian got.

I rewatched Cutting Class tonight, and girls it's camp, and more fun than I remembered, with some lovely kills (the under the bleachers moment). I love the whole final act set in the empty school, pure melodramtic cheese of the highest order. There should be more slashers set in schools...
I feel Jill Schoelen still doesn't get her flowers for being such a great late 80's early 90's scream queen

No! Run! Save yourself!

But watch Annabelle Comes Home, because the Warrens are in that and it's a dumb riot.
Yes! I've seen Annabelle Comes Home and absolutely loved it! I appreciated the fact that it wasn't afraid to just go full on bonkers, especially as I didn't like the the first two Annabelle films.

Saw two movies on Prime i didn't know existed, Bagman and Mara. Both had the protagonist (Sam Claflin & Olga Kurylenko respectively) being haunted and chased around by a malevolent figure whose names are the movie title.
Both movies were also competently made but by-the-numbers bland.

I enjoyed Heretic, the horror during the first half in particular was excellent. Fantastic performances all around too. The trailer had got me thinking there was going to be an elaborate labyrinth involved, which I’m glad wasn’t really the case, could have seen that turning into a bit of a mess if they had pushed that aspect of the story further. The movie we got had a lot of room to breathe and take its time with the story, which I feel benefited it significantly.

I *love* Jill Schoelen! I need to do a re-watch of some of her classics. Side Note: I feel her opening in When A Stranger Calls Back is better than the original.

I just finished a horror film on Tubi called Lowlifes. It looks like it came out last year and it was really good. I'm shocked it was so good considering it was on Tubi. I don't want to spoil it so I'll just give the logline: "The survival instincts of a road-tripping family are put to the test when they have no other choice but to stay the night at a remote homestead."

I highly recommend it if you like twisty horror thrillers with a good amount of gore.

Thanks will as Lowlifes to my list. Checkout NoExit, if you haven't as that was a twisty horror thriller.

Several days later and I'm still thinking about her tragique hair.

I've added to mine after your review, it never occurs to me to look on Star for horror films, although they have some great stuff.
For sure, quite surprised too so will be checking for more.

I use Letterboxd as well to help me decide on whether the film was worth a watch! Nothing worse than a terrible film.

Watched Sinister over the weekend, which was certainly creepy and actually a had a couple 'oh no' and small jump moments for me, which is rare as I don't usually get scared at all. I'm more in it to be disturbed/creeped out which this film also delivers in. In particular, when Ellison finally decides 'no fucking way, I'm out of here, we're moving' -- the moment right before that which trigger this action were on the edge of me being scared with his reaction to what he saw, and the stuff being tossed down.

Wished the sequel was also on MAX so I could see that too.
