I Kissed a Boy (Dannii Minogue/gay Love Island)

The new Danni Minogue presented gay reality tv show on BBC3, set in a villa in Italy. Initially 10 guys who are paired up and then an extra guy thrown in at the end of episode 1 to spice things up. Did anyone watch the first 2 episodes? Me and my bf watched it and it was kinda amazing! Dannii isn’t really in it very much (much like Love Islands presenter) but the guys are pretty entertaining and it’s refreshing to see the gays represented in a Love Island type reality tv show. I’m already rooting for Bobski.

Jake and Kailum are adorable.

My heart was in my mouth during the conversation between Ross and Ben in episode 2. I felt bad for Ross but also, everyone handled the situation really well.

I wasn’t sure that Ben handled it that great, he just kinda stood there in silence. I’m not sure I see what everyone else does in Ben, I think Ross is more attractive than Ben, I do love a ginger though.

I don’t think anyone came out of the Ross/Ben situation well! Ross came across as desperate and thirsty to me (having come on way too strong with Joe when they were first matched, he then came onto Ben when Joe didn’t match his level of interest) and Ben hardly let him down in the most gracious manner (“erm… I dunno”). I’m not seeing what everyone sees in Ben either, ditto Scouse Mikey (whose novelty appeal may well drop once the new people arrive).

I suppose Ross was coming on a bit strong with both Joe and Ben, but I can forgive that given the fact that it's an environment where you literally have to pair up to stay in the game.

As for Ben, it wasn't the most graceful of let downs but I think I just perceive letting people down in an ungracious way is better than taking the compliment to avoid conflict (which would lead to unfairly stringing him along). It was awkwardly phrased but a clear 'no', which was nice.

Kinda wish we had the whole season now but it seems like the most sensible thing for the BBC to leave us hanging to keep interest up.

I really like this. It's very endearing and hits the right balance between being fun and gay but also depicting how painful gay dating is. I'm not sure I see a single compatible couple in the entire group but it's still nice seeing them talk about love and sex openly in this space. Also Dannii Minogue.

I'm trying to work out which contestant was criticized on Twitter just before the show aired, as it was revealed that he had a 'no non-binaries' etc line on his Grindr profile...I'm guessing it was Ollie but does anyone else know?

It was Ollie. He denies that it was him (not altogether convincingly!):

I really loved the first two episodes. Ridiculous that it's taken this long for a show like this. Everyone is inherently more interesting than your average Love Island contestant just by virtue of being gay & everything that comes with that in life.

I'll reserve full judgement without proof but when he made that joke about wanting Dannii's number he screamed massive twat to me, sorry!

I’m enjoying the show. Dannii is of course a goddess but I also think Ollie is coming across well. I’m happy to take him at his word he was catfished and people use his pics. Let’s be honest any of us who have used the “dating” sites know not everyone on there is who they appear to be!
