Hello hunties. Gather round and lemme tell you The Story of My (PJ) Life.

October 18th, 2015
For most, a completely unremarkable Thursday night. But for your hero @ohnostalgia, it was the night that changed her life forever. Having spent two years in the trenches of tumblr One Direction fandom, your rate host was exhausted. Three songs had been released from the forthcoming tragedy Made in the A.M. and I was surrounded by incorrect opinions. Zayn was gone. Dad rock was in vogue. People were stanning Louis Tomlinson. It was a dark dark time.

Embattled but hopeful, I searched for a new place. A place for people with right opinions. A place of the light. A place where Louis Tomlinson was not tolerated. Somehow I stumbled upon the hallowed ground of PopJustice, where many a legendary music fan posted before me. I raced to the One Direction thread, breathless with anticipation. These were my people.

For two months I lived almost exclusively in that thread, overseeing those tragic last months with hunties like @MarlonBrando86 and @lushLuck. We laughed. We raged. We rolled our eyes. We escaped to the greener pastures of the Zayn thread. Until one day I decided it was time to Change My Ticket and visit some other topics. The rest, they say is History. For I am the Girl Almighty. And as I looked upon my new pink stomping grounds, flashes of a modern masterpiece raced through my mind- I think I’m gonna win this time, I roll and I roll till I change my luck.

March 2016
Flash forward five months. With the future of the One Direction rate uncertain it seemed only fair that I give back to this community that gave so much to me. We may have went our separate ways, but without One Direction there’d be no @ohnostalgia on PJ. So here we are; it’s You & I. Shall we dance to the Best Song Ever?

But enough about me. Let's talk about The Boys. Matchmade by Simon Cowell Nicole Scherzinger on the seventh series of the X-Factor, One Direction are Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson. Please pay attention to the order of this list, as it will become relevant as the rate progresses. Finishing in third place, Zayn famously proclaimed that "this was not the last of One Direction" during the X-Factor finale. Unfortunately for boyband haters around the world, this last sentence was prophetic. From 2011-2015 One Direction released five studio albums, constantly changed hair styles, plagiarized classic songs, failed to dance, cryptically tweeted, got horrible tattoos, lost an essential member, humoured Louis, and held hostage enraptured fans the world over. Ask any One Direction fan- there's nothing worse than loving this awful awful band. But we wouldn't have it any other way.

This is my first rate, I'm just going to keep it simple. Scores on a scale of 0-10, decimals allowed. One 11 for your very favourite One Direction song. Please send me commentary so I can approve or destroy it. I would prefer that the bonus tracks are mandatory. Also, take note that Home has been added to Made in the A.M.

Deadline
April 19th.

I have years upon years of unsaid One Direction opinions. Be prepared.

Amazing.

I don't go to this school, but I'll endeavor to transfer in just for you @ohnostalgia. I've actually rated Up All Night previously, for my X Factor Losers rate, but aside from that I only know Made in the A.M. and the odd single.

Is there any substantive difference between the original and "2012 US Version" of Gotta Be You?

It's very marginal. In fact have this amazing summary because it gave me a kii:

Original version: Solo parts for Harry Styles and Zayn Malik (the lines before they sing “If you walk away, I know I’ll faint”) do not have echo effects. The chorus lines leading up to the song's climax are: "It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you. Only you."

2012 U.S.version: Solo parts for Harry Styles and Zayn Malik (the lines before they sing “If you walk away, I know I’ll faint”) have echo effects. The chorus lines leading up to the song's climax are: "It's gotta be you. It's gotta be you. Only you. Only you. It's gotta be you."

And let me start tagging people who submitted before: @Sprockrooster @sexercise @Posh Spears @tylerc904 @CorgiCorgiCorgi @Mr. Right .

Clock my grammar a bit. No actually, do. I don't want incorrect stuff in my opening post. That would be tragic.

Wait... no. It would be matchmaked? Because Nicole was the matchmaker.
Yes but you wouldn't say she maked the match. She made the match.

In the meanwhile, some PROBLEMS I have with these silly boys:
  • I Wish is not the Hilary Duff song.
  • I Wish is almost immediately followed by I Want. An Atomic Kitten Someone Like Me/Somebody Like You tea.
  • C'mon, C'mon is not the Sheryl Crow feat. The Corrs song.
  • Heart Attack is not the Demi Lovato song. @DJHazey
  • Rock Me is not the Melanie C song.
  • Truly Madly Deeply is not the Savage Garden song.
  • Best Song Ever is not even the best song on the album.
  • You & I is not the Lady Gaga song.
  • Right Now is not the Atomic Kitten song.
  • Half a Heart is not the H & Claire song.
  • Charity single or not, One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) should not exist.
  • Ready to Run is not the Dixie Chicks song.
  • Where Do Broken Hearts Go is not the Whitney Houston song.
  • Perfect is not the Maren Ord song or the Vanessa Amorosi song.
  • What a Feeling is not the Irene Cara song.
  • Wolves is not the Kate Pierson song.
But most importantly: They Don't Know About Us is not the Kirsty MacColl/Tracey Ullman song.

Let's have a listen.

In all seriousness I'm sure many of those are good songs - actually, I know Perfect is - but goddamn, those other songs are all fucking incredible.
