Oh no! I was actually playing this one earlier today. Every time I revisit a song of theirs that I usually ignore, it gets eliminated! I guess I'm so special.

Let me be topical.

You think these boys don't have credibility?

Let me introduce #HipsterDirection

Back off! You're so three years ago!

#43. Loved You First [6.731]

High Score: 9.3 x 1 (@SophiaSophia)

Low Score: 1 x 1 (@Up Down Suite)

My Score: 6

Oh look. Another "eh" song that beat the wonderful Never Enough. C'mon bad taste! Released as a bonus track on Take Me Home, Loved You First is perfectly fine. I don't hate it. I don't love it. It's there. I'll listen to it on shuffle and that's about it. This one was written by Tebey Otoh, Tommy Lee James, John Ryan, Tim Wood, and...... Julian Benetta. I swear to god if this song is the reason why Julian ended up writing the bulk of their next three albums, it should be burned. I bet he was in charge of the whiny ass lyrics. We. Get. It. You loved her first. Too bad she don't care. Sucks to be you. Musically the chorus is strong but the verses are meh. I do like the effects on the intro; wish the rest of it was as interesting. Also Niall doesn't sound that bad on the bridge! Progress! You lot didn't have much to say about this one. I'm shocked.

I think @SophiaSophia (9.3) has a fungus problem! "I didn't love this first but it's grown on me a lot."

So does @With The Bands (6.5)- "A grower." Maybe you two can get a groupon for that.

@First2Run (9) poses an important question- "I’m not sure which member of the band keeps losing girls to other guys, but they definitely need to get a handle on their life. I suppose it makes for great bops." Well we know it's not homewrecker Niall.

@Macsun (9) really likes the chorus. Or something. Who knows. "Loved You First "Another one of those, 'where is this song going?' until the chorus hits. Glorious!"

Considering we saw what happened when Zayn and Louis got more complicated lyrics, I think the answer is no @sexercise (7.8)- "I wonder if singing practically the same lyrics every other song gets tiring. Nonetheless I still kind of love this."

Of course @VivaForever (7.5) would- "I want to play this while I drive with the windows down."

@DJHazey (7) didn't need another one of these- " This tells almost same the story as "Heart Attack", just not quite as sonically pleasing."

Let's see who else is giving out high scores- @tylerc904 (7), @KAG (8), @Mr. Right (7.5), @thefaceofyou (9), @Furball (7), @Reboot (7), @Subwaykid (7), @Posh Spears (7.5), @Rasterax (7), @Animalia (8), @iheartpoptarts (8), @Daniel! (7), @Xanthippe (8). ............................................................................ why.

@eccentricsimply (6) is on point- "It's forgettable but it's fun to listen to, so I don't think it's a bad song."

Maybe if you stopped rejecting their attempts at growth (COUGH NEVER ENOUGH COUGH), they would @wackseed (6.5)- "We get it, escapism/fantasies via attractive youth singing about how they loved you first. Let's move on, please, you guys are more talented than this, that chorus is lovely and shows promise. "

@constantino (4) is not having it- "MEH. MEHH. This is yet another pointless bonus track, clearly it was just record for the sake of quality."

Here's @A$AP Robbie (6) demonstrating the entire problem with the results of this rate to this date- "Its cookie-cutter One Direction, but that's okay."

Let's all resolve to do better.

GOOD
NIGHT
BRING
BACK
NEVER
ENOUGH.

But we don't know if the girl cares, because he didn't actually tell her! It's entirely possible that she'd rather have whoever out of One Direction as opposed to some other guy if only she knew.

...And that's how you can tell I grew up listening to lots and lots of boybands.

You snooze you lose.

Interesting that the past two songs had very few high scores (9.5,10,11's) yet managed to beat
Never Enough.

A cookie cutter song will always soar above a controversial pick. Sad but true.
