Driving the Vengabus is a tough job, guys. Sometimes you get tired of it all, so you pack your bags and catch a flight (on Venga Airways, naturally) and off to Ibiza you go.
It's a vacation destination for all you Europeans out there according to the Top Answer Game, though you'll be completely and utterly screwed unless you go the general route and just write "Spain".
Personally, I've never been! I've always imagined it as nighttime beach parties and Paradisio's 'Bailando' playing on a loop, though this is probably inaccurate.
So, the Vengaboys. Their bus is coming. They want you in their room. And then there was that one time in Ibiza, which we just voted off our island.
It's a remake of the 1975 Typically Tropical hit 'Barbados', which I had honestly never heard of until now. (Who are they? Do they know they've got a Bambee song named after them? Lots of questions.)
The biggest surprise here is that the "bus driver" lyric goes all the way back to the original. I always thought it was such a clever Vengabus reference. Life ruined.
Barbados, signore, I love you mi amore! Nah, that's not the same song. Show @DJHazey some love. You can do better than PJOPS, surely.
I like this more than 'Ibiza', no lie.
The Vengaboys are vacay goals. Before Ibiza, before the Vengabus, before they had any success outside the Netherlands, Brazil was their place.
Much later in their career, they gave Jamaica a shout-out. Just buy a ticket and take a summer holi-holiday!
Then there's the matter of their interplanetary travels, but we don't need to talk about that.

Going to Ibiza:
Some of you just lost your Vengaboys fave...
@phily693 (10) - WOAH! I think this is the Vengaboys’ best song. WOAH! It’s pure cheese but pure holiday bliss. WOAH! It’s super pop but has elements of ska/reggae and slight tropical influence, you could make this song more reggae or tropi-pop than cheesy pop and it’d still be great song. Also, that video is pretty cool. Although it was very sexually charged, Kim’s boobs in particular…
Some of you are all about their other stuff...
@Seventeen Days (7) - My least favorite of the 3 in this rate, but even then still an enjoyable track.
@geomixes (7) - Honourable mention to Shalala Lala with its rave milk maids and its slap-pop ways
@One Stop Candy Shop (8) - Good but I prefer their other singles.
Some of you have seen the Vengaboys live and I am extremely jealous...
@OspreyQueen (10) - Party on the Dancefloor was my first tour I ever went to, so unless you count Max Restaino (I don’t), this was the first song I ever heard live. So I just gotta give it a 10.
@WowWowWowWow (9) - Sadly, at the radio concert where I saw the Vengaboys for the only time in my life, their 4-song set did not include this Ibiza anthem. I did like that they tried something different than their clubby stuff, although the clubby remix they had for this one was pretty decent too.
Some of you are happily bopping along...
@berserkboi (9.9) - LOVE!!!
@Eric (10) - I like the slightly more laid-back feel to this song, and it's so reminiscent of summer holidays!
@rav4boy (8.5) - They really were quite a decent act weren’t they?
Some of you are partying around the world... or not?
@Cutlery (9.2) - I like how they visit Stonehenge in the video, the Vengaboys really partied wherever they wanted, huh?
@Sprockrooster (7.5) - That intro is so lush, but I cannot help but feel halfway to skip it as I am already over the song. Never been to Ibiza between when it is some sort of almost Dutch colonized party island these days.
And some of you know how to pronounce Ibiza. (Apparently I don't!)
@Remorque (8) - Even though this song is kind of a bop in all its Ace Of Base-ness, it irks me in some ways, possibly just through Kim's performance. She sounds flat as hell and the Dutchness of her pronunciation of “Ibiza”... Sis.
Going to Eat Pizza:
@31entrance (8) - WE'RE GOING TO EAT PIZZAA!!
@Ray (4) - Everybody likes eating pizza.
@sfmartin (10) - How can you not smile and think about the great summer holidays you've had. Joyous. Although I will not ever not sing "We're going to eat pizza" over the top.
Going to Barbados:
@Empty Shoebox (9) - No we're not, we're going to Barbados. Unfortunately that's a much longer flight, so you'll have to put up with the airline food. Solid cover but I'm subtracting a point for the incorrect pronunciation of 'Ibiza'.
@A$AP Robbie (6) - This feels like them running out of steam - changing Barbados to Ibiza was commercially a good idea, but it feels flimsy now.
Not Going Anywhere:
@Hudweiser (4.5) - Not hi-NRG enough for me, though Shalala Lala was epic.
@ohnoitisnathan (3) - Not as good as their earlier singles.
@CasuallyCrazed (2) - Sex on the Beach did it marginally better. I don’t even think they listen to this one in Ibiza.
I don't know, it was #9 in Spain...

One more time!
