"Yesterday's Gone" is a song written by Tim Hawes, Pete Kirtley, Andrew Murray & Christian Ballard and produced by Jiant and Snowflakers for the band's second studio album 'Strictly Physical'. The track has been described as powerful and dramatic emotional winter ballad.
'Yesterday's Gone' has got to be their most dramatic ballad ever, and God knows, they have a few of them. The most dramatic part of the song is obviously the middle-8, which a lot of you have named the best part of the song.
Totto says the ballad is
"one of their strongest track in my opinion" and further comments on that bridge :
"A powerfull middle-8 is what you need and what you get from this song".
eyeline tells the gospel truth as he compares it to Monrose's actual best ballad ;
"Nice ballad but not quite on What You Don't Know's level. That middle 8 though." That middle-8, indeed!
However, it seems not everyone agrees that the middle-8 is the best part of the song. For
iheartpoptarts, it might as well be that little bit leading up to this soaring chorus :
"The pre-chorus here is the best part, however short." Talking about that soaring chorus,
DJHazey shouts it from the top of his lungs just like everyone should, really :
"I STILL CRYYYYYYYYYYYYY" YAAAAAAAAAS! *Hearts emojis everywhere* They have my heart in their hands right now as chills are literally sent down my spine. Speechless."
plastisFANTASTIC compares it to another one of the girls' strongest ballad as he describes this as
"The sequel to Shame. This is the kind of pop I guess only continental europeans understand. It's overtly dramatic, full of blips and beeps, a beautiful melody, very t.a.t.u., probably my favourite power ballad they've released." Really? I feel like this would have gone well, even in the States, had someone with a big following released it. Either way, I agree about all these compliments. Sadly, I don't think it's the case of
Sprockrooster who believes
"their ballads can be really boring". I_CANNOT_USE_REAL_WORDS_PROPERLY_! He does admit that the
"The middle-8 saves it from being a total zero." Well, thank God. A ZERO?
I can't find a single video to link, how sad. So let me just stan for the amazing layered vocals during the chorus. it gives such at atmosphere to the song! It's really a shame to see it leave, but top 20 is a good achievement.
