I’m usually sucker for a vocal distortion but it almost feels a bit toooo much when sandwiched between the amazing pleasure/pain hooks and the big 80s notes. The second verse is a touch hard to hear. On second listen the clarity of the second verse is my only complaint for the song.
Overall, her commitment to making songs that are a nightmare to sing along to is actually a gag and I love it. The top line is SO catchy and the runs and adlibs she’s throwing into it are such a gorgeous pop moment. Whistle for me, Jade!
I like that it’s another bombastic track, you can’t predict where each of her songs are going which makes me very excited for the album. I get why La Chapelle was keen to do the visuals to this song. If the video isn’t “sexy, kinky, 80s roller disco Donna Summer” I’ll be shocked!
