JADE - "FUFN" + Debut Album

Jade’s out here delivering the campaign we could only dream of, and some of y’all still moaning.

She’s doing amazing. The material is top tier. On top of that, she’s loving every minute of it. Let’s enjoy the ride with her.

If you don’t like the music, then that’s fair. But not everything has to be a multi-week Top 5 platinum smash. Would it be nice? Of course! But it’s not necessary in today’s landscape.

Some people here seem to hold her to a standard that hasn’t been seen in the industry in years. “She’ll never get an album out” because she hasn’t hit the Top 10 since her debut. It’s not about that anymore. Hundreds of artists release albums on both major and indie labels, whose singles don’t even scrape the Top 60, let alone Top 10.

Enjoy the journey and bop!

IMO Fantasy is a classic, which likely broadened her audience.

(Also it did get a radio push, it was A list for weeks on both radio 1 and 2 and outpeaked Angel Of My Dreams in the airplay charts. It just didn’t resonate like Angel with streamers).

Yes I wish all her releases were hitting the top 10, but the charts don’t work like that these days for most artists outside of the few mega stars. She’s building a great critical response, a strong core fanbase, the songs are charting and getting millions of streams, and it sounds like there are great songs to come.

I realize I haven't heard all of FUFN like a few of you seem to have, but I don't get how it's generic. Just because something is more standard pop fair doesn't mean it's automatically generic, just like something being a little off the wall doesn't mean it's good. It also sounds like a hit, which her label would probably like her to have. And she really does need a change up next. All these songs following the same sassy talky talky bit followed by the chorus where the track falls out is getting a little repetitive.

I think people mean to say “straightforward” or “traditional” when they say “generic”

It most likely comes down to previews circling, but it sounds like the song alternating between two really strong choruses rather than a conventional verse/big chorus/verse. Which I really love, but I am curious over time if it'll sit as a favorite from me.

So far Angel may actually be my favorite. FUFN is in the wings waiting to take my (traditional/"generic") taste and become a fave.

Well, it's clear she's doing something right if none of us can universally agree which is her best and least best song so far.

I've loved all her Angel and Fantasy performances, but I just cannot wait till we see her on stage with all the bells and whistles as they say (choreo, dancers etc).
