Jake Shears - Last Man Dancing

Jake should be so proud of this record. He is showing everyone how the Scissor Sisters did what so many are now trying to do with disco and dance music way before them. He nails the side a/b vibe of pop vocal hooks to dance-inducing beat forward production. I may need to break my no new vinyl rule for this (are those hand signed still available/us applicable ?)

The personally signed ones aren’t available anymore, but the others might still be on his store

I had to purchase the cassette on Jake’s store for a signed copy. Got the vinyl bundle too cause I just loved the tee. The signed cassette will sit real pretty next to my signed Disco CD!

My friend got some LPs signed for me tonight at Jake’s signing in Rough Trade. My life is now complete…

In Jake’s talk at Rough Trade, he mentioned that there are still around 8 unreleased Night Work era tracks that may see the light of day at some point. He also seems to be on good terms with all the Scissor Sisters members, including Ana, and that he can see a reunion happening at some point down the line, but that it’s obviously not up to him.

He also said he’d love to collaborate with Jessie Ware!

Amusingly, he wasn’t aware that Magic Hour was even on vinyl.

Has anyone mentioned that there is a digital deluxe on his store? No new tracks but a bunch on remixes. I'm not sure if they are readily available but the price seems worth it.

Scissor Sisters' "Night Work" is one of my all-time favourite no skip albums ever and this seems to be a perfect companion to that. The fact that Boys Noize who is another fav is so heavily involved is the cherry on top! Deliciously crafted pop music. Energetic, glittering, tingling, swirling fun!!!

I imagine the rest of them would be interested. 2024 if what I hear is true.

Looking at my Spotify, I realised that the last 4 albums I listened to were Alison Goldfrapp’s The Love Invention, Darren Hayes’ Homosexual, Fever Ray’s Radical Romantics and now Jake’s little masterpiece, and it made me think how blessed we are that our gay, lesbian and queer artists are delivering such quality with their latest releases and it makes my heart filled with joy.
