Janet Jackson - Number Ones / The Best

A solid Janet performance.

Which translates to 'better than anyone else that's been on that show'.

Thanks for that, I didn't know it.
I remember that she came to Germany during the 20 YO era, but she just gave a press conference and interviews, sadly no performances...

I can't say I was that impressed. She obviously can't move like she did when she was 20 but t's unacceptable to mime on a show like this. Gaga managed to sing live and dance.

Britney DIDN'T mine to the CD version. It was a different mix, I think the tour version. At least Britney didn't shout things out over the bits she was supposedly singing!

Happy fan.

'All For You' made sense to perform, as it was her last proper big hit - and the edit into 'Make Me' was smooth - with 'Make Me' seeming like an extended break of 'All For You'.

I liked that she looked natural; wasn't caked in make-up and had her own hair. She looked youthful and fresh. Like the outfit and the shoes. She almost looked, well, relevant.

And she proved that she's still the best dancer in pop. It was interesting to see her performance next to GaGa's - which at times felt stilted and clumsy.

As for the miming - anyone expecting Janet Jackson to sing live on a TV performance is obviously living in cuckoo land.

Jingle bell ball setlist:

Control
What Have You Done For Me Lately
Miss U Much
If
That's The Way Love Goes
All For You
Make Me
Together Again

Kill me.

To make you feel a little better, apparently most of it was a medley as opposed to the full songs but still... she could have just said the song titles and I'd have been happy!

Ok that does make me feel a little bit better. Hopefully it was like a 7minute medley. I can deal with missing that. My nerves are calmer now.

Now, for this European tour, will it basically be the Rock Wit U tour + Make Me? As Rock Wit U (or was it Witchu) was a greatest hits tour basically?

Yeah, she should do less songs though. The tour was overkill.
No album tracks from Discipline, no songs that weren't hits in Europe.
Cut it down to 21 full songs max (encore included), no medleys as well.

Nooo, there has to be album tracks from Discipline- that would be so dreamy! I will happily be overkilled by her... as it will probably be the one and only chance to see her.

Oh please, Gaga stood next to a giant bath tub moving her hands like claws. Rediculous. As for her vocals... that's irrelevant. A good performance is a good performance and a shit performance is a shit performance.. you shouldn't be able to analyse how good a performance was by the audio technicalities. That's a conventional non-music fan criticism. Neither were vocal performances so, what does it matter?

I find this miming argument so redundant.

Much less because Janet actually sung All For You live.
