Janet Jackson - Together Again Tour + Las Vegas Residency

To be fair to this thread, she did get a lot of heat when she first dropped those rancid comments, but I do hope it doesn't get swept under the rug. However, there's nothing wrong with going to the shows. I'm glad I procrastinated in getting tickets for her Denver date, so I could just decide to not buy them because I will be personally boycotting everything until she apologizes.

I’ve decided to still attend the show. She’s been on my bucket list for ages and I’d already purchased the tickets months ago.

After this, I won’t attend any other shows or buy anything she hawks ever again until she issues a full apology that correctly addresses how horrible and dangerous her comments were.

It’s allowed to ask questions from fan to fan? I personally would hesitate to go but I see your reasoning, too.
I think we all hesitated, and you only need to see the discourse when the interview dropped to see how angry we were that she's not only said those things but the timing was so bad for fans here to process it.

Ultimately this was an expensively ticketed tour, for a popstar who's cancelled multiple times over here (and in the case of Glasgow, again this time), and whose touring reputation and general legacy as a cultural icon is now so weak in Europe that she's likely not going to try again for a number of years. That's her own fault, and Randy's fault.

I loved the show – and it looks like we all did! – but I'm also totally aware of how much a dickhead she's been recently and just because we all made use of the tickets and enjoyed it doesn't mean we're enabling it. This was bucket list for me and I was sure as shit going to get my money's worth out of that £200+ I spent on her, but I won't be giving her any more cash unless she's actively apologised and proved she's smarter than that abysmal quote suggested.

Thanks for saying this. You put what I was thinking far more coherently than I could!

I can enjoy the show I bought tickets five months ago AND think she's an idiot at the same time?
That’s how I feel too. She’s rubbish at interviews and failed to hide being an idiot. As well as the Kamala stupidity, she also said something like she doesn’t like living in London while trying to promote her shows in London.

I’m sure there are other stars that are better at interviews but hold truly abhorrent views.

Wait, did I miss an apology or clarification? Why are you all so happily attending these shows? Weird.

As much as I don't like a "let's stan again" thread moment, ain't nobody going to not go if they paid for tickets.

People didn’t refund their tickets when Madonna brought Amy Schumer out on stage for the Celebration Tour or her lame stance of the genocide of Palestinians, so…

The entire interview was a disaster. Aside from the unfathomably perplexing Kamala comments, her disconnect from her own career and "I'll ask Randy I guess, lmao" response when asked about a new album was so disappointing and kind of proved we've reached the end of the road for Janet as anything more than a nostalgia act. It's sad but for better or worse, she will always be one of my two pop music pillars. Her music, videos and performances shaped me as a lover of pop and even if I have to take her off the pedestal of untouchability, I can't help the emotional attachment I will always have to her.

Also, Unbreakable was a phenomenal album to end a career with. And judging from that interview, I don't think we'll be getting anywhere near that level of introspection ever again.
