Try amazon both com and co.uk. I have found old 80's vhs music videos there that I was after for years.

What does this vhs have that you are after? Sure it's not on the dvds?

So did you buy this?
What does it have that's not on the From Janet to Damita Jo dvd?
Remix videos?

I got that for my birthday when I was 8 or 9!! I loved that video. It had some great extras in addition to the videos, there were lots of extras like behind the scenes of each video, and bonus versions of the videos like an all dance edit of "If" and a colorized version of "you want this."

It has the making off's, and some other footage, quite nice. There's even water-guns fights.

I am currently in London and I found this in Notting Hill Music Video Exchange, 2 copies actually for 6 and 7 pounds. It has alternate videos... still didn't get it. Used VHS tapes aren't worth more than 1 pound.

Let's all gather around and remember good times, huh?

I finally picked up this album. Oh boy, no wonder people are so dissapointed with Janet's recent output. I only knew 'That's the Way love goes', 'Again' and 'Whoops Now' (one of her biggest songs was a Hidden Track?! Wow) before, but the rest is amazing. The first 17 Tracks are a nonstop Dance pop marathon with some amazing 'New Jack' beats (that's a deep groove on 'If'), experimenting with chick rock (What'll I do) and the opera vocals and strings on 'This Time' are phenomenal, very Morricone. I love the House-beats on 'Throb'. It's Madonna's 'Erotica' done the right way. I think I'm gonna cry thinking of all her albums from 'All for you' upwards. Well, at least I still have 'Velvet Rope' and 'Rhythm Nation' to discover. New Janet fans who only know her 00's output are definitely in for a treat.

You only do such a phenomenal album once in a lifetime. Thank you Janet for delivering the goods.

You do have Control, right? Cause that's her very best.

2nd best is janet.

My faves are:

If
That's the way love goes
Because Of Love
Again
This Time
Funly big band (I love her singing in this one!)
Throb

...and even the pussy ballads at the end are great!

If you get janet remixed it has soem great remixes plus 2 amazing b sides, On and On and 70s Love Groove.

I recently found the 7" of If and it has a great Jacksons cover, One More Chance, in the style of RN1814's Come Back To Me, amazing too. It was a bonus track on the 2cd Re-release of janet.

I have 'Control', my very 1st Janet CD actually and my favourite. Vinyl with it's limited running time definitely had the advantage of only including the very best and not some yackyack Interludes etc.
I think 'Pleasure Principle' is possibly my alltime favourite song of hers.

But instead of buying 'Rhythm Nation' next I jumped 20 years and started buying her new stuff like 'Damita Jo' and '20 YO'. Probably not such a big mistake actually, it makes me appreciate her older stuff even more.

I think I'm going shopping this weekend, there was a CD store that had the "janet. Remixed" CD for 1 Euro.

Are her Tours any good? She said she's gonna release the 'janet.' Tour on DVD in an interview with Larry King.

Rhythm Nation 1814 is one of my all-time faves. The title track's intro is orgasmic, and the rockier tracks like 'Black Cat' and 'Miss You Much' are still bloody amazing.

Some of the single mixes for the slower tracks (I'm thinking 'Love Will Never Do' and 'Escapade) are admittedly better than the album versions, but it is still an essential purchase.

I love 'janet' too, but it does sort of dissolve into drippiness towards the end (so much so that I would only really listen to the first side of my old cassette)

Although The Velvet Rope is (and always will be, by the looks of things) my favourite Janet album, If is my favourite single. It's an absolute powerhouse of a song, even 15 years later.

The janet. album is pretty great for the most part (Throb and Whoops Now aside, both absolute bilge then and now).

I agree with all that. Loving Love will never do, all over again.

I was a bit of a latecomer to the Janet party. I got Design Of A Decade and never really paid it much attention, and then bought The Velvet Rope on a whim and really, really liked that. So anyway, I decided to give janet. a go over the last couple of days and it's fucking fantastic! 'This Time' is amazing.

I've really been getting into Ms Jackson lately - her live DVDs are well worth a watch, too. It's so plain to see where Britney got her influences. Bits of her Onyx Hotel Tour completely ripped off The Velvet Rope Tour.

Thought I would start a new topic, as the other Janet topic, is about her departure from the record label, I also thought this would be useful as www.janetjackson.com is now being updated, with a `New website coming soon` maybe this could mark a new project?

I may be reading too far into it, but even the colour scheme and clouds on the website at the moment, are much more reminscent of earlier Janet work, rather than the themes of Discipline, 20 Y.O. etc...

Should she take her time recording? Or be quick? Tour? Greatest Hits? Collaborations? Discuss....

She should just deliver that dance album she's promised since forever.
