As I've got older it makes me so emotional. I think losing family members and friends over the years... it hits harder now.

Would LOVE to know what Janet's plan with Black Diamond is. Surely now is the perfect time for someone who does minimal promo to releae?
I think after Unbreakable and her reappraisal since then, Janet and her team might probably have big plans for Black Diamond. Sure, they could release it now but there may be specific tour and promo appearances they want to stick with to maintain the renewed interest?
She was everywhere for Made for Now. She did every interview known to man. Unbreakable was the only one with next to no promo. She probably wants the release to coincide with the documentary next year.
From what I’ve read on the Janet forums, recording was still underway when the pandemic started and was immediately ceased and she returned to London where she’s been since. Sadly, I don’t think Janet would have been one to still work on the music during the downtime. So it’s highly possible the album’s not even finished.
Also, there was a recent interview with Kaytranada where he states he was contacted to work with her on the album but that has not happened due to the pandemic. Below is the link and excerpt.
Here’s hoping if it hasn’t been completed, she’ll get along with it this year, bring Kaytranada on board and we’ll get it in conjunction with the doc!

From what I remember, she was in the midst of wrapping up the album in New York while she was there making announcements for the album and tour. If they’re not done already, then I imagine they’ve decided to rework it since then.
Right! There was that photo posted of her with those glorious braids at the mic recording back then. So much has happened since and that can only work to our advantage. I literally cannot wait, I feel this one is going to be just as special as Unbreakable if not even more!
