  1. I like the wallpaper
    Burzum and LPT like this.
  2. I doubt she'd rock a look like that in her son's room.
  3. Well she was getting ready at home. Maybe she liked the lighting in the room.
  4. Is she in the Fish Room at Bluestone Manor?

Now, I know the first two albums pre-Control aren't exactly popular, but would people like to rate them just for completion's sake?

  6. I’d join the rate.

The pre-control albums get no love from me. Maybe we could include the additional songs that were included on the bonus edition of Design of a Decade?
  7. I love reading rates but don't have the attention span to participate, especially with a discography as extensive as Janet's. Might I suggest including Could This Be Love in the extras section though, a lovely outtake from Damita Jo.

  8. God yes!

I think that's a comprehensive list but for "missing" songs I'd suggest:
    • Weekend - I guess this falls into a grey area since it was only streamable on Janet's website for a short time and never "officially" released
    • Making Love in the Rain by Herb Alpert has Janet's vocals on the pre-chorus and chorus, but with Lisa Keith as the lead
    • Maybe the Together Again remixes that use new vocals and melodies? They're quite different takes on the song
I'm probably one of the pre-Control albums' biggest defenders so I would say yes to them being here, but I can appreciate that's another 18 songs for people to rate and for you to eliminate. Truth be told, even I wouldn't be putting most of those songs in the ranks of anything post-Control (except Discipline oop).

  9. I just noticed Twenty Foreplay is available on Spotify.
I feel like for a long time it wasn't.

It's actually one of my favourite Janet songs. Mariah's Bliss has a similar vibe.

  10. I'd also join the rate!

  11. Is Jermaine Dupri the rapper on This Body? He's actually pretty good and the song kind of makes me want to twirl around a pole.

Also, I think it's an interesting approach in talking about the male gaze and how people assume ownership of her body, especially after her body parts were weaponized against her post-Superbowl.
  12. Count me in for a Janet rate! What a discography.
Ferk, Txetxu and nikkysan like this.
  13. I would definitely do a Janet rate, but I'd be more than happy to skip the pre-Control albums because they do nothing for me.

Could we put The Beat of Black Wings on the extras list too?

  14. I have never heard this song but damn, it should’ve been released as another bonus track. Sooo good.

I'm so glad you're doing this!

I wouldn't add the pre-Control albums because aside from the list being long already, we know they'd be kicked out in the beginning anyway.

In terms of additions, I cosign @djmakemewet's picks. Making Love In the Rain (she's not as prominent on it as Diamonds but is still credited & it was released as a single), Weekend (this feels more "official" to me than a typical leaked outtake because it was available on her website), and the DJ Premier Remix & Jimmy Jam Deeper Edit of Together Again (new vocals/melodies/production, they're essentially different songs).

  16. Noted! All 4 of those have been added to the song list and judging from the reactions, we’ll just skip the first two albums.

  17. Oh this is going to be legendary. I'm so fucking excited. Thank you for this @nikkysan!
  18. The way her non-album features are among the best out of any other pop star. Can you say legendaric?

I feel like Kaytranada's If remix should also make the cut @nikkysan

  19. As much as I adore that remix, it doesn't feel different enough melody or structure-wise from the original (like the Together Again mixes) to warrant it's own spot.

  20. How about this Love Me Just a Little Awhile Just Blaze remix?

    Or the infamous Ruff

Ugh, I stan the Damita Jo era.
