'Burn' has knocked Lady Gaga off the top of the aussie charts! Go Jess, i really love this song!

Really glad about that. She is far and away the best thing to ever come out of Australian Idol.

Yeah she is very good, although i do have an extreme soft spot for Casey Donovan who won in series 2. Just loved her voice! Shame she hasn't gotten anywhere!

It's probably best I don't voice my opinion on Casey Donovan, but I will say that I have loathed every single Idol singer with the exception of Ricki-Lee, who I only like for 'Love Is All Around'.

'Running Back' just absolutely blew me away the first time I heard it, even the Flo Rida verse is amazing and the way the "can't move on" bit segues back into Jessica is just genius.

I might be wrong but I think this is the first Australian Aboriginal artist to go to #1 on the singles chart? If she isn't the very first then she's the first in an extremely long time. The only Aboriginal acts I can think of in the last 30 years that went top ten are Yothu Yindi and Christine Anu.

So glad she's made it to number one. I was in tears when Damien Leith won over her in idol. She's FABULOUS.

Haha, poor Casey. Although she was at number one with her 'winners song' and i'm pretty sure she is aboriginal, or atleast mixed?

I only really followed the first 2 idols, asi left australia in 2005, and there wasn't really anyone memorable. I havent heard much from Ricki Lee but i do remember watching her in the live shows and remember being shocked that she left so early!

I'm absolutely delighted Burn has finally made it to #1 in Australia this week, I've become absolutely obsessed with it. The album also hits a new peak of #12, hurrah!

I will say so out of the risk of beingshouted at that "To The Floor" is fucking IMMENSE. It's like a pimped up version of Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music" with a) slight electrofied arabic influences and b) a girl singing it who can actually sing and perform like a pro already.

It screams global smash.
SMASH. SMASH. SMASH.
GLOBALISE HER ALREADY!!!

PS. The album is amazing. Up/Down, Burn, Running Back and Empty could all be hits although for a WW release I'd want less ballads and midtempos and more "To The Floor" electro-pop.

I'm guessing that you don't want her to become a global superstar then?

To be honest, Running Back is a bit generic for me and the Flo Rida part ruins it even more. But Burn is MUCH better. I havent heard anything else from the album.

*Runs to pester man pie into lending it to me*

Burn has been pulled from radio because of the bushfire disaster.

It doesn't matter, because Been Waiting is the third single and has been sent to radio.

isn't it strange how they do that?

when Robyn released 'Keep This Fire Burning' in Australia they renamed it 'By Your Side' so as not to offend victims and families of the bushfires at the time... don't they have more important things to worry about than a pop song on the radio?

JESSICA Mauboy will soon go overseas for the first time after scoring a record deal in the UK.

Last week, Mauboy signed with the niche UK dance music label Ministry of Sound and will travel overseas to promote the album.

After shooting her third video clip this year for her next single Been Waiting, Mauboy couldn't wipe the smile off her face after signing the deal.

"It is exciting that they have listened to my music and that they like it," she said.

"I'm really happy and it gives me great confidence.

"We'll probably head over there in June so it's very exciting."

Mauboy allowed the Sunday Herald Sun exclusive access to behind the scenes for her new film clip for Been Waiting.

I've no idea why, but I get hugely excited every time this thread gets bumped by someone, right now Jessica's just one of my favourite popstars. Yes the album is a bit too ballad heavy (though even they're all very good), but there's a huge amount of potential here. She's apparently coming to Japan soon with the album and it'll contain a few new tracks which'll hopefully be upbeat, and they're also pushing her in the US later this year. She should get at least one hit with Running Back now Flo Rida is huge again.

I've had Chinese Whispers stuck in my head all weekend, it's VERY good.
