Jessica Simpson - General Discussion

Discussion in 'Pop & Justice' started by DiscoBlue, May 21, 2009.

  1. If she had just stuck to the bubblegum 80's homage that the first 5 or 6 tracks are then A Public Affair - while maybe still not an amazing album - would have at least felt like it had real direction. Instead it just falls off into anything goes territory and it hits some truly horrifying lows.

    The Jessica Simpson Essentials are:

    I Wanna Love You Forever
I Think I'm In Love With You
Where You Are (feat. Nick Lachey)
    A Little Bit
    Whats It Gonna Be
    With You
    A Public Affair
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
    If You Were Mine
    Let Him Fly

If those songs do something for you then go explore the albums. But her albums are such mixed bags that if you don't have great nostalgia for them, I'm not sure how worth your time you'd find them.

  2. Irresistible is her best album, but her EP and A Public Affair are so good for a bit more personal (raw)...

  3. Yeah, I literally know her debut single (which is nice) and that song with the awful video where she's like eating ribs... for some reason?

I may check out Irresistible then? I'm not really a massive ballad fan.

None of her ballads are anywhere near the level of I Wanna Love You Forever anyway.

  5. Hey, the With You video is iconic!

But in all seriousness, if you’re not keen on ballads then I’d say the first non-single to go to is If You We’re Mine. Now that’s a Bop.

  6. Why was she eating a plate of ribs though?
  7. I found this interesting.

  8. This is what I stumbled upon the other day, leading me to ask if her albums were any good haha.
  9. They were buffalo wings and it was a callback to Newlyweds, the show she was doing with her then husband Nick Lachey.

  12. Irresistible has more bops than ballads imo:
Irresistible and What's It Gonna Be are iconic and they fell off the Oops!... I Did It Again album
  13. Always had a soft spot for the Bops on this album (Hot Like Fire deserves some love) but lorrrrd some of the ballads are a slog to get through!
  14. I 100% AGREE

  16. My Jessica playlist would consist of these songs:

I Wanna Love You Forever (debut)
I Think I’m In Love With You (debut)
    A Little Bit (Irresistible)
    Imagination/I Never (Irresistible)
    With You (In This Skin)
I Have Loved You (In This Skin) (her best ballad in my opinion)
    In This Skin
    A Public Affair
    If You Were Mine
    The Lover In Me
