Jesy Nelson - “Bad Thing” + Debut Album

Aside from Jesy, I just feel Nicki is the one who should really be coping the flack as much as Jesy. Nicki just comes across as a horrible and reactive person.
They said she’s in “white mode”. The internet y’all

Wow, not to focus on appearance as I know some will come at me etc, but her natural skin here looks gorgeous.

While she has been quite silly, I still wish her well and hope she has good and positive support around her. 4# is pretty good, and hope she picks future material and styles that are appropriate.

I think to be on the bubbling under chart the song can never have charted on the hot 100. So number 1 on the bubbling under isn’t necessarily number 101 overall as number 101 is likely a song that has previously charted on the hot 100.
You're correct. A song can enter the Hot 100 from the Bubbling Under Chart, but you can't fall from the Hot 100 to the Bubbling Under chart. It's essentially just a "you tried" star.

It's not the #13 itself... It's the fact that she killed her credibility for a debut on the bubbling under!
What "credibility" did she have? She was one quarter of a group who have been - at best - moderately successful in the US (and less so with each album era). There was no one over there at the edge of their seat waiting for her to launch a solo career. And anyone from the UK who's broken that market has done so by offering the US something they don't have already. Not by reheating stuff by American acts from 20 years ago. Even if the song was good she'd have had a mountain to climb.

As for #13 on the Bubbling Under chart being a good start - how does she build from here? Is she likely to get any major promo slots? I can't help feeling she's already played all the cards she has.

She has an established name with a rabid fanbase attached to the song, it's a bit naive of anyone that thinks Nicki wasn't put on there specifically for that reason and it didn't even help.

Also, songs that have been on the Hot 100 for more than 20 weeks are deleted from the chart if they fall below #50, and songs that have been on the chart for more than 52 weeks are deleted if they are going down the chart and fall below #25. (The deleted songs are then eligible to chart on the Hot 100 Recurrents chart.)

So even #100 on the chart isn’t necessarily the song that would have been 100th based on just sales, streams and airplay. #13 on the Bubbling Under chart is therefore likely to have been well below #113 if not for the chart rules.

Remember when it was believed she'd hit #100 and then Adele would knock her out to the Bubbling Under?

“Boyz” is simply taking time out for itself from its rightful place in the upper echelons of the Hot 100 - or, indeed, any chart - as a radical act of self-care.
