I mean this being the Imax poster but actually not being in the film ddd:

In all fairness this is a composite of a shot from the film that was cut, edited over the iconic joker stairs. While the clip from the trailer was cut, this exact image was never shot (and posters often are images from a promo shoot, not something from the movie).

I didn't like the first one at all. Once this is available to watch for free I will skip to Gaga's scenes. Also random but I always forget Todd Phillips and Paris Hilton dated for a hot minute. Should have given her a scene where she sings Stars are Blind then maybe this would have smashed.

Babe no! This would’ve made it even worse!

I watched this last Friday and it was a real moment of Wendy_Williams_Whatwasthat.mp4 dd.

It's... not bad as people are trying to paint it, but it just exists. I'm absolutely curious about what happened behind the scenes that Googs just got cut. Scenes present over the trailers, stuff that was captured by Paparazzi and buzzed the internet... just nowhere to be seen? At first I even wondered if it was cut as a "fuck you" for the leakage during filming but it sounds stupid. And the craziest thing is that the movie is still +2 hours long.

Gaga is great on it, no surprise it's a critics' consensus that she's a highlight, but her role looks so diminished during the movie that it feels hard to judge at all. And then there's the fuckload of music, far too much. Ironically, I thought the "pregnant" and the final Lee appearance were real high points for her.

A friend of mine is a huge huge fan and made some interesting remarks about the "roles swap" between the Comics & the movie, with Lee having the manipulative role during the relationship dynamic and also acting as a real villain since it looks like she's the one behind exploding the courtroom and also killing him at the end?? "having her way" with the guards, etc. which shines a different light for me but also makes it even more puzzling; the bones were there but Todd decided to just go "but what if they sing every 5 minutes??"

Also cannot believe he really danced around the "is it a musical? well idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" ddd. The nerve.

This was absolutely a shared opinion of mine too. The movie to continue the Joker story was there, he found love, but he met an unmatched villain in Harlequin
which ultimately led to his demise (because he's a terrible person anyway) -
but Todd said noooo I'm an auteur lemme make him sing! Like I've said before, if he wanted to do the singing bit just keep it to 2/3 the big moments where it'll make more of an impact and won't turn off the straights that much!
Replace those scenes with Harlequin setting up the bomb going mad etc. = MORE GAGA - we all win.

It really didn't need to be a musical.

Well, America loves a comeback etc. If this is her Glitter, I'm ready for her It's Like That.
I don’t see her getting the blame for this. I do think that because she’s really been away from the music scene proper - Chromatica got the shaft thanks to the pandemic - she’s sorta off people’s radar. This flop sticks out like a sore thumb because there’s really nothing else of hers to focus on at the moment or fall back on. The last big song people remember was the one with Arianna four years ago. I think it’s time for her to get back into music big time. Put her focus into it. She’s not a bad actress at all, but it’s time to remind people why they fell in love with her in the first place. Whether she should allow this bomb to fizzle out before coming back full time is anyone’s guess. Since it’s towards the end of the year, spring 2025 would be a good time to start fresh. Unfortunately the Oscars may dredge all this up again for her. It seems like she doesn’t feel the final cut was to her liking. Maybe she should say something after the film has left theaters. You have to be careful with that though as it can piss off the studio and sound like she’s simply making excuses. Joaquin’s dream apparently inspired this debacle. Blame him.

Even if the film was great, the fact remains that musicals are a hard sell these days.

You probably mean solo material, but she has had the #1 song on Billboard's Global 200 for the past 6 weeks with Die With a Smile. It's also 2024's longest #1 on the Global Spotify charts - spending over 44 days at #1 with no signs of slowing down just yet. This is already a bigger hit for her than Rain On Me.

But I see your overall point, it's smart for her to focus on the music right now. Bring on LG7.

Despite this being a a bit of a flop, I don't think it'll hurt Gaga too much. She has a new music era lined up, seems really locked in, happy and in a great head space. She also got to put her own stamp on this movie with the companion album, and has a cute smash hit with Bruno Mars which the GP are gobbling up. She'll be fine and people will move past this movie quickly. It won't plague her or put into question her movie career.
