I'm sure that without me around none of you have posted about this, but Stray Kids are dropping an album tomorrow

It's a compilation of the songs they released on YouTube as well as new solo songs from each member and a Korean version of their Japanese b-side FAM.

I have SKZ on repeat the last few days so new stuff is coming at the right time.

Apologies for not being in the KP(GD) thread for ages, but I've been listening to KPop sporadically since I started my deep house stream on Twitch. So I spend most of my time listening to house - deep, melodic, funky, jackin', organic, bass, etc. Though, I have been known to sneak some KPop from time to time. Looking forward to actually doing a full classic KPop stream someday - I don't have the tracks for it at the moment, unfortunately.

Anyway, I digress...

Spotify comes out with that 2022 Wrapped thingie and my #2 artist for all of 2022 is GFriend.

So, I may be an old fuck, but clearly KPop is in my DNA.

I hope everyone has a great Chanukah, Kwaanza, Christmas, and New Years!

I love you all so much.

Its so crazy to me that we have 4th generation groups. I started loving Kpop during the wave of 2nd generation groups, and its just crazy to think so much time has passed that we're now at thr 4th generation.

Does anyone know how long a generation lasts for? like it doesn't seem like a specific amount of years, but that would make more sense.

It almost seems a bit subjective. In ways it's hard for me to lump G-Idle, LOONA and Itzy with New Jeans and Le Sserafim. It feels like we could say 5th gen, or 4.5 gen.

This has never been an argument when it came to putting groups like EXID and EXO in the same generation as Blackpink and Wanna One, so I don't know why it should be an argument now. Besides, the divide in generations is a lot more about the methods of promotion as well as the shift in target audiences (with BTS and Blackpink being the main initiators of that) so to me it makes perfect sense for all of those groups to be 4th gen.

Just seems we’re somewhere different sonically to me.
