Today is your lucky day @Wills, huh ? IZ*One hate brigade wins once again as their second single Violeta sadly must vacate today.

Violeta saw the first cross-collaboration between part of e.one and part of Sweetune and look how they ate that ! Violeta births the new signature sound for girl-groups to play around until this day, a heavily synth-drenched soundscape that is still manage to feel powerful. Sure, e.one, Full8loom and 1Piece has started the dreamy synthpop-influenced trend, but it was through IZ*One they manage to elevate it and make it palatable to the dancefloor.

Using deep house influences as the main basis of the song, Violeta is filled with many bright and sparkly synth choices that makes it feel somehow lightweight and delicate. The writing is controlled, resulting in a more sparse verses compared to its successor Fiesta. This allows Violeta to has some breathing ground, letting the masterful instrumentals take a spotlight a bit. That chorus, just like their debut La Vie En Rose, is very typical tropical house trope that used to be a nightmare to me. However, I like when IZ*One did that because hey at least the instrumental drop is actually interesting and beautiful. Too bad some of you just don't have the taste for that.

Sadly nobody is talking about thing song. NOBODY. So I hope you girls actually talk about it in the comments. In the meantime, support another IZ*One clone.

He/Him
I love me some mess, so of course I gave both IZ*ONE songs a high score. They're chaotic and they're bops.

As for Drive by Kim Areum... That one hasn't exactly grown more on me, but Your Summer has, so put me in the box of people who are disappointed this one's left second of her songs.

@Wills just this week FFFFFFFF!!

MessT, somebody save IZ*One from this immediate collapse !

D-D-Dance is probably the best song that's used as promotion from that cursed app Universe, which now has been certified as flop. It's kinda funny how IZ*One manage to snatch the best Full8loom leftover from their usual muse WJSN. In a way, yeah that's basically me saying D-D-Dance is better than Let Me In.

D-D-Dance is gay (complimentary) music, through and through. D-D-Dance has it all : The unabashedly, clubby house music which is paired with a chorus filled with deliciously robotic hook after hook, complete with vocoder effect to enhance that electric feeling. A perfect soundtrack for gays everywhere while making mockery of voguing on the dancefloor / their room. Or while power walking through the city like they are walking on a runway. You know, the usual gay stuffs. Sadly some of you are old, maiden and start to showing sign of arthritis. I'll pray for you and your disgusting lack of taste, whoever you are.

@codecat notes similar thing as I do : "Full8loom are SO GOOD at doing house...you just know that this song was made for WJSN I can hear Yeonjung doing the DA DA DA DA DAAAANCE.....adlib in the end" yup yup, while Cheng Xiao, Luda and Yeoreum with their nonexistent vocal cords will be given the robotic hook just like Hyewon does.

Speaking of WJSN, Dawon and Luda (and the Chinese line but I know better they won't ever returned) are leaving *katy-perry-witness-cry.gif* Let's stream their excellent discography tonight for our fallen soldier !

Sorry @thommyh I forgot to announce before that we will lose a 11 today and sadly it will be yours ff.

You, jam is one of many cases that I find so fascinating in K-pop, how K-pop at the forefront will take inspiration from "Western" music and sometimes being too literal with it. It's funny thinking how one day, someone from Full8loom just stumble into Lady Gaga - G.U.Y and said hey, let's take some deliberate inspiration from this, tweak it enough so we don't need to pay for credits ! And they say ARTPOP is a flop album.

Most striking similarity is in the bassline, particularly can be heard during the rap section. Outside of the "sample", Full8loom still crafts You, jam as standout on its own. The opening section is so sick and badass, with the instrumentals creatively marrying classic electro-pop sound and trap influence. My complaint will be for the chorus. The sing-talking is catchy and will be fun to scream along when someday they're having a concert, but I wish there is some proper chorus first before the sing-talking part come.

@Slice of Life disagree with my take : "one of the best choruses of the last five years" while @Wills shares similar point with me : "Instrumental probably deserves a stronger song to match, but this is still a serve. Can't really see a future where these girls don't wind up as my favorite Cube group of all" Oh you better check your eyes then because we can clearly see which one is the favorite nn (which anyway that group should've been eliminated quickly in K-SOTY but this subforum taste is rotten).

@codecat feels his oats : "I like this car-commercial song a bit too much, let me just say that...walking down the street to this is a slay experience" while our 11 scorer @thommyh has found new favorite : "The way before the Alive era, this was their best song. Like they literally allocated all of their serve cunt budget into this b-side" I will argue Light A Wish is more cohesive and has better bops oop.

Oopsie I forgot, we're losing another 11 today

Omg pleek this IZ*One slander must be stopped. This is already the fourth losses for IZ*One, can they still make it to the top ?

Can we classify Merry Go Round as city-pop ? At its core, Merry Go Round has several elements that can be associated with it. The pure disco sound, the sentimental & nostalgic verses, groovy bass that is perfect as your sunset driving companion. Merry Go Round always felt like a lost classic from the past, something the Internet somehow found amongst many Japanese cassettes from the 80s. Merry Go Round quickly emerges amongst many disco recreation at the time as one of the finest attempt, stood out with its earnestness, soul and passion. The double-part chorus, especially the "Neul hamkkehae dream, oh sweet dream" part is literally a godsend, a blessing from heaven above.

I can't stand this puta @Wills : "Never would've guessed this was iz*one, it could be literally anyone. Good for them!" At least you like it, I guess. @Slice of Life simply said : "that chorus always HITS!!" while @codecat sung praise highly : "My favorite e.one x IZ*ONE track! Light-hearted, fluttery and packed with chord progressions that would make a classical musician cry...and it's kinda like Jamiroquai space-disco? Incredible!" Preach, amen sister !

There is a 3-way tie next in #36 and all of them are forum favorites. Any predictions ? Let's see if I can eliminate all of them tomorrow nn.

He/Him
Merry-Go-Round is hardly my favourite out of the IZ*ONE tracks, because I'm a whore for their chaotic tracks, but still... This feels way too early. Though I can't really complain as the averages are already extremely high and we've only just hit the top 40...

So well done, everyone!

There is a 3-way tie next in #36 and all of them are forum favorites.
Gurl... If it's my 11...

We're saying goodbye altogether to GFriend from this rate. Annyeong girls !

It's You is a very very rare occasion of SPACECOWBOY. working with different groups outside Kim Areum, Lovelyz and other indie artists. In fact, this is probably a Kim Areum song that's eventually get bought by Source Music and you can check the demo in Youtube. That's the reason why you are getting Lovelyz vibes from it, as it shares many similarities with usual Lovelyz ballad. The slow buildup, twinkling synths, calm yet full of emotion vocal performances.

Just like any other gays, I'm not that big fan of ballad. I crave bangers and bops ! But there is something about It's You and many SPACECOWBOY. balladry that works with me. It isn't incessantly cheesy or over-dramatic, or pushing vocal performances above the rest. They are prioritizing the song itself, letting the vocalists as another instrumental, not a forefront star. All of the instrumentals are crafted to enhance the song's melody, building up certain mood as perfect story setting of usual SPACECOWBOY. stories, bittersweet unrequited or forgotten love.

It's You is perfect in every way, but the major thing that I love is the outro which I've expressed in the GFriend rate :
Baby it chu baby it chu…
Only it chu only it chu….
Baby it chu baby it chu….
Oh only it chu only it chu….

The voice slowly disappears into the air as the tango guitar, light arpeggiated synths and sound of waves come crashing down.

Truly a magical moment in musical history. Wow a moment I will never forget.

Ugh I'm crying, I want this as soundtrack whenever I see sunset. If you like this, please make sure to check Lovelyz ballad Never, Secret.

The next song will be a single, which one is it ?
