Girls I'm boiling ! I thought we as alphabet community will forever be in chokehold against 80s synthpop ? Are this world truly coming to its end ? Are we having a reverse day ?

The forever iconic collaboration of mid-tier it-girls, Sunny Girls along with Taxi is one-of-a-kind phenomenon. You will never find collaboration this great again, not even 4th Gen Girl Groups last December could touch this. Taxi finds the perfect balance of serving cunt and refreshingly cute. The hook is catchy enough without being too repetitive. It balances the sexy undertone of that whispery "What you gonna do oh take on me" hook and that bridge, which also suitable for non-vocalist like Cheng Xiao. Not only Cheng Xiao that shines with her non-existent vocal and acrobatic moves. Nayoung gives the mature edge, Nancy serves that white girl appeal, but the main slayers of that stage is Yooa with her always recognizable voice and Eunha with her iconic bangs. Speaking of Eunha, don't forget to check her recent comeback Pull Up (please pay for this advertisement @junglefish)

@codecat brings us to a fairytale : "Nayoung, the BETTER VOCALIST" while @Slice of Life recalls the good time : "miss the time when the whole subforum was gagging for this. that was herstory, that was fighting for gay rights" Now these gays are turning their back, these gays are trying to murder me ! Poor @RUNAWAY must suffer another wrong prediction : "okay now this better be top 5 let’s be real NOTHING comes close to the level of iconicness this song serves up every time" Kii I pray for your luck bestie.

I can't link the original performance bc it doesn't allow other site playback. Fuck off Inkigayo !

I will probably post sporadically until Monday because I will be watching a certain K-pop act this weekend hehe, hopefully we can reach Top 50 by then. Also hoping this next elimination will brings meltdown !

Yeah so sorry girls, the villain is me. The beloved Love City is our first rate winner that's eliminated which is quite an achievement, congratulations 9Muses !

I just never understand this song. Looking at the composer list, it's understandable how the sonic soundscape is just very European. However, it is arranged and constructed very confusingly, without any aim on how this song should've been presented. Is it supposed to be straightforward sexy ? Playful sexy ? Or just plain cutesy song ? The weird contrast can be seen in the pre-chorus and even more apparent in the chorus, where the "chu chu chu pop pop pop" part sounds so out of place.

The clashing nature of Love City can also be seen through the MV. Yes I know their budget has depleted rapidly ever since the members are leaving, but Love City is just another level of mess. Wtf are the pastel colored solo shots doing in here ? Why is Pinocchio there ? That scene where they are in a car and start pulling that cardboard ffffff are you not embarazzed, this is really embarazzing.

@Wills gives us Greek tragedy : "A great song that flew a bit too close to the sun and thus can never be forgiven". None of you positive scorers give commentary, so let's focus on the negative. The notorious high-scorer @RUNAWAY said "whatever it’s fine" which basically means shit in his standard I guess nn. @codecat opens an old wound : "*9muses rate war flashbacks* I have trauma" Kii somebody restart the rate ! Let's stream an actual camp classic instead xoxo

Gagged ? Surprised ? Let's see what song that is deemed better than that

Survivalists and nugu-tier fighters ALICE (formerly known as ELRIS) lose one of their track today, leaving Focus as the last standing.

Midnight, Moonlight is a cute mid-tempo which take inspiration from 90s girl-group soundscapes. I don't particularly know the references, but it gives the vibe of an album track for S.E.S or Baby VOX. @Ana Raquel I trust you for this field !

Midnight, Moonlight is enjoyable and have quite dreamlike quality to it, especially with the harmony in the pre-chorus and the gorgeous "midnight, moonlight" line at the end of the chorus. However, it's also understandable that it must leaves in this position as there are many great songs, like there is no way we're letting a midtempo album track to win a rate right ?

@Crisp X references a great track : "This reminds me of Lovelyz - Rapunzel a little" Oh yes I can hear it, or maybe it's just the 90s influences ? Rapunzel is much better tho. @Slice of Life references another great artist : "What kind of Red Velvet serve????????" Hmm, probably something from their early albums like Candy, I can see the vision.

He/Him
Now we’re talking.

I can’t believe this made it further than Love City?

Perfectly serviceable, but that’s not really what we’re looking for in a rate winner, n’est-ce pas?

This thread though.... genius!!
might need a whole day to catch up!

NOOOOOOOOO WTF ? This like one of the best boy-groups b-side to ever exist and it's still not enough for you homosexuals ? @soratami you will pay for your sin !

Clover is just magnificent and clear evident on how boy-groups should work closely with e.one or Full8loom. Right from the start, Clover quickly establish its high energy and never let it down. Paired with gorgeous yet nostalgic guitar riff, Clover's melody is probably the most robust and accessible e.one ever wrote. It doesn't fall flat and cheery in the right amount without being too sugary.

There are many excellent writing and production choice in here that I absolutely adore. That little "nae ape seomyeon" quips at every chorus is so cute. My favorite part is that stellar bridge, mainly Sangyeon part. The melody, along with that little echo effect that makes it sounds like it's coming from heaven. Ugh it's saur good. Too bad now The Boyz are busy putting thirst-traps with NCT writing camp's scraps.

@codecat isn't as misandrist as I thought he will be : "This song always gets me up in a really good mood!!!!". . @FunkyButChic shows us a meme : "Once saw someone describe this using a “Mom: We have INFINITE at home. The INFINITE at home:” meme and now I can’t unhear it" . INFINITE sweetie, I'm so sorry. I don't really see it tho ? Maybe close to something like Man In Love or Nothing's Over.

Damn this song got so much love and sadly still fall before Top 50. That's how competitive this rate was, the average is high yet pretty close. Kinda cackle that the #1 Buddy @junglefish isn't giving this a 10. The betrayal.

Here We Are is probably the most disbandment song that they released in their final year. It's dramatic and lean heavily into the power pop soundscape, complete with the heavy-sounding drums and soaring choruses. Usual GFriend tricks like the twinkling pianos and strings also appears here. Yet somehow I don't really click with Here We Are.

It's not a bad song, but I much prefer their other self-referential disbandment-lite song, You're Not Alone. Compared to it, Here We Are felt a bit distant and cold, with chorus that is massive but also a bit flat. The repetitive and flat nature of the chorus makes it a bit harder to sung by unison, the right setting for this type of song. Though once again, as a whole it's definitely still a good song. My favorite part of whole is the post-chorus, the melody is so sweet and provides nice sonic contrast to the chorus.

@Slice of Life is still coping with the moment : "Will never not make me emotional. When that middle 8 comes on..... AHHHHHHHH SO GOOD" while low scorer @codecat kinda agrees with me : "Kinda a drag in retrospective, sorry queers"
