Welcome back to another edition of the...

DV4NoQI.gif

August, August, August.

After the dry spell that was July, the K-Pop gods and goddesses have heard our most ardent prayers and gave us quality comeback after quality comeback. Seriously, there is A LOT to enjoy this month. From K-Pop heavyweights like Sunmi and Red Velvet to rising boy groups like TXT, ONF and CIX to soloists like Somi and Ha Sung Woon, there's truly something for everyone! And in a few days' time, we'll also receive new offerings from the likes of Brave Girls, Kwon Eun Bi, CL, Stray Kids, VERIVERY... the list goes on!

I can't wait for this month's charts. Let the mess begin.

1. Send a PM that contains a ballot of your 10 favourite songs and 3 to 10 favourite albums to @Slice of Life. Kindly rank these songs and albums too.
2. The songs and albums should have been released on or before the last day of the month. For example, you cannot vote for a song released on September 2021 for the August 2021 edition of the K-Popjustice Charts.
3. The songs and albums you're voting for should be what you've been listening to in the past month.
4. The songs can be singles, album tracks, or whatever as long as it is released by a K-Pop artist in whatever language. Specify whether you're voting for the original, remix, or Japanese/Chinese/English/etc version of a song since they are counted separately.
5. You can only vote for songs released by non-K-Pop artists if it features a K-Pop artist (e.g. Lady Gaga's Sour Candy which features BLACKPINK).
6. The albums can be full length, mini album, or single album as long as it includes a minimum of three songs that are not instrumentals, remixes, intros, outros, and interludes. A repackage album is considered a different album if it contains at least three new songs (e.g. LOOΠΔ's [X X] is considered a different album from [+ +]).
7. Your favourite song/album gets 10 points, scaling all the way down to 1 point.
8. The total points earned builds the chart.
9. Ties are broken by number of voters, then by quality of votes received, and are left as a tie if we still can't break parity.
10. Commentary is highly appreciated but not mandatory.
11. An album or song must earn at least 10 points and must be voted by a minimum of two voters to chart.
12. Your ballot cannot be made up of more than 50% of songs and albums of just one artist.
13. The top five songs each month make the 2021 K-Pop Song of the Year Rate.
14. Accept Shaman Unnie as the one true Kween of Pop.

Deadline of ballots is on September 2, Thursday, 23:59 GMT.

PMs will be sent to potential voters five days before the deadline to remind/threaten everyone to vote. Potential voters will be tagged three days and one day before the deadline too.

Hello

as an envoy from 3 fans of Golden Child, I will announce the proposed campaign

We find the title track is underwhelming ddd, so we campaigning for the superior album track that is Fanfare, a super groovy and funky song with great anthemic chorus

Please vote for that if you're interested. And if you have some spare votes, take a listen and vote for this Full8loom masterpiece that is comparable to their finest work with WJSN, Spell :

pleek don't leave me alone pleek @Slice of Life @Sanctuary @drod93

I can't believe I'm going to bat for Somi but here goes:

I know! I know! The song has a few things working against it: the rap break, the streaming-tailored 2:29 runtime, the MV employing YG's favourite tired trope (pretty girl – flooded in neon lighting – experiences angst!! while wearing designer gown) and the main issue being that this is very much a Teddy™ production.

But!!! In spite of all that.....she served!! I'm sawry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The whole package is so fun and has really sold me on her as a soloist. I especially love that crab walk choreo in the first chorus and that outro is so good. I was never her biggest fan when IOI were around but I feel weirdly attached to the IOI girls (since they were the first big debut I experienced as a kpop fan); so it's nice to see her have some real success with this after experiencing that weird limbo in her career.

Anyways vote for Dumb Dumb.......Dumb dumb!

Also I'll leave the campaigning to @boombazookajoe but vote for CIX!!

Do y'all know Rocket Punch? Do you like their single 'Ring Ring'? Well, it's not on this album! But don't let that stop you from voting for it!

And please vote for this pleek pleek pleek it's the best actual nugu (w/ cheap company) debut we've gotten in years

Fanfare is really so so good!!! I think it's getting nine points from me.

As for my ten-pointer...

Cheers to y'all for waiting to let me post it! They really are simply the best.
