Also, kudos to ODD for actually doing what an intro track needs to do, which is to blend with the next one - I can't imagine Girl Front without ODD now. I haven't seen the video yet for this - is it as beach filled and carefree as I'm imagining? eliminathan: Kings came back with this and it's a grower for sure. Truly my song of 2017, the most forum-quivering bop of the last 12 months and a one woman masterclass in how to bolster your unknown, largely ignored group into the realms of international standom, fanfic hyperbole and a new era of sleek, sophisticated modern magic once only kept for the Big 3. I love Kimberly Lippington and OT12 can't come soon enough. Apricot: If we’re being real this song is absolutely better than all the releases this month. Kim Lip truly delivered a timeless masterpiece. Vixen: Ugh, this LGBTQ icon.. She really did that, didn't she? Her mind, honestly. She basically invented the gays. Do you understand what it means? Ya'll wouldn't even exist without her. That's how powerful she is. And that's how grateful ya'll should be. Celebrate this classic's one year anniversary with me now.
What the hell, Seoul Night is easily one of the best releases this year. She deserves better. I nearly voted for Page 2 too, though.
『MAIN CHART』 ALBUMS 10 GOODBYE 20'S YONG JUN HYUNG Around Us Entertainment 10 POINTS Last Month's Position: N/A Peak Position: 10 Months on Chart: 1 VOTERS: 4 - @eccentricsimply, @Slice of Life 2 - @Coming Century This is an album that I only heard once but it is so strong, I just had to give it my 4 points. Goodbye 20's is the first full album of Jun Hyung, the main rapper of Highlight (fka Beast). And wow, I really didn't expect to enjoy this so much??? I'm still shqqk. One of my K-Pop New Year's resolutions is to listen to more K-Pop albums because frankly I'm sick of not having anything to say about these albums on KPJC dddddd. I honestly wouldn't listen to this if it wasn't for that resolution of mine. I mean, I don't listen to rap music but I saw some of y'all hype this album so I gave it a go. And I was smitten. I love that it isn't too heavy-sounding? Most of the K-rap songs that I encounter are very rough and aggressive which is cute but it just isn't my taste. Goodbye 20's isn't like that. It's so easy to listen too and frankly, I also dig Jun Hyung's singing voice. I still can't choose my fave tracks but I will be listening to this more. Goo Hara's ex did that.
Yeah, Goodbye 20's is really good. Definitely the best of the two solo Highlight albums we've had this year. Kikwang's is still better than them both though.
9 POET | ARTIST Jonghyun SM Entertainment 11 POINTS Last Month's Position: 8 Peak Position: 2 Months on Chart: 5 VOTERS: 5 - @Deja-Boo 4 - @send photo 2 - @Aries I'm pretty sure this is now the longest-charting album in the history of KPJC. Iconique. Also, it warms my heart that all of SHINee are represented in our chart this edition. I'm not crying. Also, I know that I promised I will listen to this but it hasn't happened yet. BUT IT WILL HAPPEN. I'm just a flop.
8 NIGHTMARE: ESCAPE THE ERA Dreamcatcher Happyface Entertainment 19 POINTS Last Month's Position: N/A Peak Position: 8 Months on Chart: 1 VOTERS: 3 - @eccentricsimply, @Deja-Boo, @Vixen 2 - @Squashua, @Serg., @sweetlikegrande 1 - @Kuhleezi, @ohnostalgia, @Lego, @eliminathan KPJC Royalties Dreamcatcher are back on our album chart with their second mini album, Nightmare: Escape the ERA. Don't ask me why all of ERA are capitalized. I have no idea too. I have to admit I was disappointed at first when I listened to this. I thought the album was pretty... safe. It really didn't expand their sound the way they Prequel did. But listening to it now, it's actually really nice. I'm a mess but I actually really like Which a Star which should not work as a Dreamcatcher song. It's light and not anime music sounding but I love it nonetheless. Also the beginning of the song seriously reminded me of CHVRCHES' The Mother We Share. Iconic. eliminathan: Really only heard Mayday as well as You and I so I can't put this higher but they're so good as expected. Serg.: Yeah it's a cute girl but nothing here touches a track on Prequel Kuhleezi: I found this a bit disappointing at first, but I've come around to it, even though it doesn't reach the absolute highs of Prequel (SOL: TWINS.)
Which A Star is an interesting 80’s-esque curveball for DC but not on the same level as Sleepwalking was on Prequel. You and I (& Scar too really) is still phenomenal though.
