Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow (New Album)

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

Any album of similar sounding tracks to Lyra would be nice. Semi-ambient but unmistakeably her.

EG.

“Sensual World” was my last “best thing ever” moment with Kate.

“This Woman’s Work” and “Moments of Pleasure”: I knew they were great but they didn’t quite reach me. Still brilliant.

“Lyra” passed me by. But like it tonight with a fresh perspective.

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

My favourite Kate album is probably The Sensual World, although the one I listen to most is The Kick Inside which is weirdly underrated by her fans. It's possibly the strongest debut album EVER.

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

The Sensual World single is probably the unluckiest song in history (for me), because it had the misfortune to be released on the same day as my #1 song of all-time, The Downtown Lights by The Blue Nile. Any other week, any other year, and that Sensual World single would have blown my world sideways.

EG.

I didn't like Lyra at all...
On the other hand, i think Aerial did constitute a return to form. I think it is her best album since Hounds of Love. I wouldn't mind if the new album (!!!) would continue in that direction.

And, yes, may i also DEMAND a proper (remastered, 'de lux') re-release of her full discography? How can EMI be so abysmally useless?

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

It's not EMI, it's Kate herself . . she has always had a very unique agreement with them.

Based on the fact the corporate management structure has had several changes of guard over the intevening decades, some will understandably have doubts about the validity of this, but in the case of Kate (and Kate only) it still holds true.

She has her own publishing company Novercia, (based on The Beatles, Apple model) and all her recordings are licensed through it. She is aware that all licensing agreements pertaining to her entire back catalogue are presently in expiry and if it were not for the advent of the recent official Youtube Channel I would say she has no current interest in further commercial exploitation of the catalogue at this time.

As a dyed in the wool Kate fan, I have the uppermost respect for her back catalogue but that has never blinded me to the fact that (as an extention of her perfectionistic nature), Kate herself has always been highly judgemental and self-critical of her work.

In this day and age nobody bats an eyelid if an artist brings out a Greatest Hits after the third album . . Kate herself, never wanted to bring out "The Whole Story" (and that was after her fifth).

It is an example of one of the few times in her career she allowed herself to (eventually) concede to the will of EMI. As difficult as it may be for newer fans to believe, it remains that this somewhat obvious retrospective . . almost in fact never happened.

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

I hope it's true but I'm fully prepared for it not to be.

The release of Aerial was really special for me. I had been a huge Kate fan since college (late 80's) and I was, by an amazing fluke, actually in London on the day of the release of Aerial. Buying a Kate album on its release day in an actual English record store was almost too much for my American fan brain to handle.

I had a long plane flight back to the USA and I listened to Aerial many times...

I don't know much about her, apart from the fact that she defines the latter part of the century. Hounds Of Love is amazing. As is This Woman's Work. My friend absolutely loves her. I don't pretend to know much, however I'm also excited for this!

We should get married then. I remember hearing The Sensual World single and thinking it was a 4 minute orgasm. For some reason, the entire Sensual World album always seemed to be like a female equivalent of The Cure's Disintegration, both albums so deep, murky, lush, and utterly brilliant.

Random thoughts on Kate Bush:

1) I am really surprised that there wasn't some kind of Greatest Hits released post Aerial, capturing Sensual World, Red Shoes, Aerial tracks and of course the stunning Lyra.

2) Such a shame there wasn't more singles released from Aerial, I would've thought edits/remixes of Nocturne, How To Be Invisible or Coral Room would've been so great.

3) You Want Alchemey was the best B-Side ever. Well at least since Under The Ivy.

A release but not an album? Curious!

The theme song to Tolkien/ Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" & Soundtrack
co-production between Kate & Howard Shore, perhaps ?

(Part One is rumoured to be out at Christmas).

. . No artist would be a better fit for this project than Kate, afterall.

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

Aerial could've been a one disc masterpiece, I love 'The Bush' but Aerial would've benefitted from some ruthless editing i.e. most of the first disc except The Coral Room/How To Be invisible, the rest can go......I can hear the sound of wood being collected for for my funeral pyre, thou cannot say a bad word about 'The Bush'!

Aye, the second disc is far superior to the first, but there are some nice songs on the first, so I can't say it should have been culled.

I'd settle with proper re-issues of all her albums, although that probably won't happen.

Re: Kate Bush - New album in 2011. Possibly.

I want her videos to be released on D.V.D along with her lovely Wogan performance of Rocket Man.
