Kate Bush

Kate Bush is fucking AMAZING. "AMAZING" doesn't even cover it.

Hounds Of Love is my favourite album ever.

'Breathing' is one of my favourite songs ever.

Without Kate in it, my music listening life would have been very different.

I would be the same. My dad had The Whole Story so I grew up listening to it and I seriously don't think I'd be nearly as enthusiastic about music (in general) without having heard it. It's like those songs are ingrained into my being. And when I finally went searching for her studio albums... let's just say it was a revelation.

I would probably count The Dreaming as my favourite album of all-time. 'Night of the Swallow' takes my breath away... and of course I am half-named after the completely bizarre 'Suspended in Gaffa'.

I still remember the first time I listened to Hounds Of Love... my ears had been opened.

Speaking of The Dreaming, how amazing is 'Get Out Of My House'? It's a nightmare put to music, in a good way.

Kate needs a two-disc hits compilation - from 'Wuthering Heights' through to 'Lyra' and NEW SONGS NEW SONGS NEW SONGS.

I once had a dream that I was in a record store and saw The Essential Kate Bush, part of that Sony series that Cyndi Lauper/Michael Jackson/Bob Dylan etc have entries in, and it used the single cover of 'Running Up That Hill', with the bow and arrow. Best dream ever.

you gotta love this woman - she's the only person i've ever gone proper FAN crazy for, and I think its probably because she is such an enigma. Like somebody else said, I don't think I'd be the music nut I am if it weren't for kate bush. My older sister had the whole story and I used to listen to it all the time and then went through a period of buying each kate album in order week by week until the set was complete, and then I had a couple of years wait with nothing new which nearly killed me until Aerial.

I look forward to new material at some point, and DREAM DREAM DREAM about a live performance, albert hall style or something, I've had hypothetical conversations with friends before but i literally would pay thousands to see it, but it will never happen

The "EEY-OOOOOOORE" section on 'Get Out Of My House' is the most bonkers thing ever released on a pop record.

I'd say most Frightening. not scary, not unsettling, not creepy, but downright Frightening.

I was very disappointed with "Lyra" on the soundtrack to The Golden Compass. And whatever happened to the "Aerial" dvd that was intended to come out? Was there any actual content for it or just a project that was never followed up?

That's the bit where she transcends her crap life by morphing into a donkey!

I loved that special! Especially the 'Them Heavy People', 'The Wedding List' and 'Ran Tan Waltz' routines.

The Peter Gabriel bit was nice too.

I would've liked to have heard her talk a little bit inbetween the performances though.

the amount of ground she's covered is indescribable.

consider: the kick inside, the dreaming, the hounds of love, the sensual world.

recorded by the same artist? surely not. all hail kate!

"just when i think i'm king...."

I've not been paying attention to the Kate world recently. Is there any sign of any new material or any re-issues or ANYTHING at all?

I think she's been back in the studio since doing Lyra, but who knows. She was so exhausted after doing the heavy promotional work for Aerial (yes, she really did claim that), so who knows!

On Friday, it will be exactly one year since i attempted to listen to her back catalogue.

One of the best musical related things in my life.

it's pretty great. have you got the this woman's work box? as far as box sets go anyway, as essential as they get.

It's a bit pricey for me, i've gotten most of her albums and b-sides anyway.
