Katy Perry - 6th Album

I mean, she's a rich white woman who comes from a pretty conservative and Christian background so I'm not sure why this is a surprise dd. That doesn't excuse her actions.

I mean it's not like she's an isolated case, Rick also got endorsed by Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Pratt and Kim Kardashian. At this point I can't even feign shock, as of late it's clear all the geriatric millennial celebs like Taylor Swift, Adele, Rihanna etc. are all living in their own world, and won't get any less richer just because of some Twitter backlash. Katy has never been some sort of progressive icon so it's easier for me to ignore her.

None of those artists are geriatric millennials though. 36 is the cut off and Katy is the only one who meets that.

Nobody is surprised. I think we’re all just annoyed that despite having ample chances to do the right thing and not look like an out of touch dumbass, she does the opposite.

Not geriatric millennial I --

I still think Witness World Wide is one of the greatest things she's done. There were some fumbles and plenty of gifs to come out of it, but she was trying to better herself and use that platform to inform her fans on organizations and people they might not be familiar with. I think she had a true interest in knowing more about issues that affect other people.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of that didn't stick. I don't think she is a bad intentioned person. I just think Katy is, like many of you have said, an incredibly wealthy white woman in a Hollywood bubble who thought once Trump was out of office the work was done.

I think a huge chunk of the celebrity set was frightened out of their minds (or what’s left of them) when a record exec’s wife was tragically murdered by an intruder in their Beverly Hills home, and so the idea that this real estate developer is going to *magically clean* LA (ie “move” thousands of homeless people to the desert) appeals to them. Of course, it’s devoid of reality, but most of these people save a few Porsche Progressives (Ariana, Spielberg) lost touch with reality a long time ago.

The lack of intelligence in the whole Katy Perry brand is why I struggle to get into her act outside of a few great singles. The songs can be pretty dumb and she can't write outside of cliches to save her life, the videos are almost painfully dumb, and the pop star herself is not very smart either. I honestly don't see how people can take her in anything but small doses. It's like she revels in being basic and that just ain't for me, though I can see the appeal for the GP.
