I consider "Witness" much better than "Prism". It sounds interesting and has amazing production, while "Prism" is so bland compared to her other albums. There is so much filler in the second half.
That being said, "Roar", "Legendary Lovers", "Walking on Air", "Dark Horse", even "Spiritual" and "Choose Your Battles", are all very strong pop songs, some of them are among her best actually.

At least, she was trying to do something. It didn't quite land, and being Katy, she gets distracted by other sounds and new ideas, but the core idea of what an electro pop album by one of the biggest popstars in 2017 should sound like is there. For that, I give her credit. And it really does have some amazing productions and a few classic Katy melodies.

Prism is literally Katy completing a contractual obligation. You can hear the spreadsheets being marked off, the advertisers being called, the lunches being ordered for producers, and Katy's schedule being made for the next two or three years. Look, if it's your fave, it's your fave, but you deserve better.

I’m still in the process of reading this thread from beginning to end and what a rollercoaster it is. Highlight is @BreatheBox offering nudes for a leak and some random from ATRL commenting “something had to go platinum” after Katy dyed her hair platinum blonde.

You had some iconic posts as well of course!

Some of his takes seriously are choices (e.g. reducing Chained to the Rythm to being a basic FU to her fans, because it were solely about pop music and its fans being mindless?). Why not make it an essay on the misogyny of a public's obsession with women needing to have long hair to enjoy success?

This thread IS a ride and half.

I also had an “argument” with a PJ fave here ALAKSFKF. I’m sure you’ll get to it soon.

But I’ll never forget my first in the Pet Shop Boys thread when I said Minimal was trash. I was a young whore back then and I just didn’t know better. I don’t hate Minimal anymore but I still love Witness.
