I find 'Washed Away' more rewarding than just a simple interlude/Intro, I really like it and can't stop listening to it. It makes me so much hyped (if possible) for the new music. About time.

Hmm I don't know what to make of this (yet). I agree that it's beautiful and that's it great to hear her voice again. I usually don't care if a comeback single is a ballad or a bop, but whatever it is, it most certainly leaves a bigger impact than an Intro song. Kacey Musgraves recently tried this and it rather flopped.
Additionally, I'm personally not a fan of Intro's anyway; they're usually not the strongest part of the album and I love albums that kick off with a great song and have many album openers as favourite songs.
Kelela herself had a cool opener in "Take Me Apart" with Frontline, which lured you in with some ambient tones (similar to Washed Away) before dropping that beat and preparing you for the rest of the album. Also, I love all her interludish-songs on Take Me Apart (Jupiter, S.O.S. and Turn To Dust). Take Me Apart as a whole remains absolutely stunning and I still think it sounds super fresh, vibrant, moving and fierce. So despite this not being the comeback-song I personally was hoping for, I have zero doubts that she's having a proper vision and I know that the album that awaits us will be incredible again.

I really adore her attention to detail. She wore braids for a good majority of the last campaign (the album cover, "LMK", "Blue Light"), just to shed them at the beginning of this era in such a stunning manor.

This has me playing Take Me Apart for the first time in a while and she really is that girl, huh? Sounds just as fresh today as it did 5(!!?!) years ago.
The subtle way it explodes towards the end is just enough to have me excited for what's to come.

Washed Away is sublime. It’s so good having her back. Some of my favourite Kelela moments are her more dreamy, loosely structured songs:
