- She's not sure if she'll be back on The Voice but it's not a definite no.

Well, definite it.

I said this a few years ago when I thought the album was coming out, but I can't wait for the album only because I feel like I can finally lay her music career to rest once it's out. And I'm aware that I'm being dramatic because she's always going to release music, but obviously it's going to happen at such an infrequent and frustrating pace that I'm fine with taking future releases as surprises rather than something I'm actively anticipating.

I just... hate the talk show. So much. Yes she's more visible now and she has Emmys and whatever but I literally could not care less. Meaning of Life was a fresh and exciting album for her and I feel like we were robbed of what was to come musically, because her career is TV now and music is a side project instead of the other way around as it should be. I literally just need this album for closure nn

I do get it and agree to an extent, but I do think it's worth saying that the tumultuous nature of the past few years (both on a world level and her personal level) are a big part of what delayed her putting out a new album, not just the talk show. And I think that what we are going to be getting will be vastly superior to what we would have gotten originally. She was recording for her next album as early as early 2019 and said when Covid hit that they were originally planning on releasing an album in 2020, but Covid halted their original plans (even though they went ahead and released I Dare You as a standalone single anyway, which...at the time I assumed was a standalone single, but if it was originally planned to be part of the album....I'm glad those plans were foiled).

Then obviously her marriage falling apart a few months later made the album change direction, she pretty much started over.

All that to say, I don't think each new album is going to be this long of a process. Quality wise, I'm not quite as confident based on what they must have been cooking up pre-Covid dd. But I hope that she decides to dive into whatever new thing she's passionate about trying, rather than reverting back to more empowerment HAC fodder. Her not having current plans to return to The Voice is promising on that front.

You guys... the way that Variety article actually read was that she was pretending to be tongue in cheek. She is coming back to The Voice next year.

That 9 to 5 cover (remake?) is dreadful. Part of the brilliance of the original is how joyful and defiant it sounds despite outlining the crushing reality of capitalism. Dolly's delivery and the production manage to the song sound empowering. This version sounds as soul crushing as working 9 to 5 can actually feel.
