This really is the moment to let it go, it’s almost cruel to the contestants now given how little they seem to get out of it. Kelly coming back for Blake, pull out Adam and Gwen for the battles or some other ratings catching gimmicks and ride off into the sunset. I do hope Kelly is only in it for one season and can use it to boost her new album!!!
The next season will be his last.
Its hit rate in terms of launching even semi-successful careers is appalling, but it still outperforms most scripted shows so it's probably got a few years in it yet.
One thing I will say for it, although I only ever watch the auditions, is that they've always had great chemistry between the coaches - in every lineup. I saw a bit of the current UK series the other night and it was so flat and joyless, as if everyone involved is just going through the motions.

I mean, it was inevitable. The show is a big success. Hits of any kind are hard to come by in daytime TV, so it's probably safe to assume that she'll be doing this for at least a decade.
An album is finished sis, they're planning to release it in the new year.
Yea I'm not worried there's no money at Atlantic for a Kelly album. I truly think the only reason it's been delayed so long is she really (understandably) has cold feet about how hard she wants to drag Brandon.
I've made my peace with the fact that her awful show- that she has never gotten better at - will go on until she's 55. I just wish she could multitask it with her music career better.

She can say it’s coming all she likes but until there is a pre-order link for the album I’m still not getting my hopes up, we’re pushing 2 years of ‘it’s coming’.

Yeah I'm not worried about the album coming. Obviously nothing is ever final, but officially announcing it for a 2023 release tells me they have plans in place and have been actively working on a release strategy. They'd actually be dumb not to capitalize on the success of the show. She has free promo for the record 5 days a week if she wants it.
Yeah, for a while she had a lot of material she was sitting on...but there was the limbo of the divorce settlements and her not knowing how much she felt comfortable sharing out of the stuff she wrote. But that Variety interview and a few things she said at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony very much imply that it's finished at this point, and they're actually planning the rollout.
She spoke a lot about the album in late 2020 and then went silent, as the divorce became messier and as she said multiple times she didn’t know how to navigate releasing something so personal and how much she should say. If she had an album ready to go that the label just wasn’t releasing, I’m pretty sure she would have said that Atlantic was sitting on it… or at the very least not continued to sing their praises (she thanked them for supporting artistry at the Walk of Fame ceremony).

I understand why you all want to get excited but since the album was “confirmed” for next year she announced she’s going back to The Voice and the talk show just got renewed. I don’t think it’s money driven by the label I think it’s Kelly’s time and enthusiasm that’s the problem.
I think I would be more optimistic if there was a real indication she was putting her pop star hat back on but it looks like she’s stopped performing her own songs on the show again and she didn’t give us anything for the 20th anniversary of winning Idol.
I have everything crossed for her to be more celebratory of Miss Independent/Thankful in the Spring and then to use that as the springboard into new music in the Summer but I fear that it’s wishful thinking.
