Kelly Clarkson

It sounded like Kelly was ina bit of a stress and wasn't really in the mood for a "PJ-style" interview.

That's just the impression I get though. I hate how media trained she is. :(

Wow people are mad at Kelly? I'm mad at Popjustice. What a crap interview with awful questions. I mean get his whole "I'm so random so I must be funny" thing, but we learned absolutely nothing new from that interview. And did someone say Kelly has no sense of humour? Kelly is hilarious! Maybe she just didn't find being asked about hats that amusing.

the album cover makes me nauseous... anyone??

i agree that its hideous, yet i will probably still buy it :(

the interview was bizarre... i really don't think she cares, which is fine, because she'll make a heck of a lot of money from this new album i think in a "oh old kelly is back" and My December will be brushed under the carpet.

i love Kelly and she was great when i saw her on her Breakaway tour but there seems to be something missing around this new material and album campaign... admittedly My Life Would Suck is very catchy and radio friendly but it all seems hollow. that could be Pink or Katy P song, or anyone really.

i really thought she would go somewhere different with this album - she needs to ditch dr luke and phone up Brian Higgins.

As an American myself, I can honestly say that I did find the British sense of humour really quite rude at first, and I used to take offence when there was none intended. But since I have been living in London for the past few years I have grown to love it and understand it.

So I don't think Kelly at all came across as stuck up or a knob, I think she just did not get the obvious jokes.

If it was filmed and not written I think we may have seen that.

I think we did learn Kelly has no sense of humour. I did think she was hilarious a few years ago with that whole 'My December' joke. People try to tell me that was no joke and she was deadly serious and expected people to like the album. I stand by it was part of a hilarious joke.

You need to wash your ears out with soap. My December is all kinds of amazing.

Are you sure someone didn't cross out the word 'Breakaway' on your CD and write the words 'My December' instead, cos you seem to be confused!

I did actually, but made a serious typo and ended up getting scary results for "Kelly Clarkson fanny"

Kelly doesn't remotely come across as stuck up/a knob/whatever. As a few other people have been saying, things are often interpreted differently in text and secondly, I don't think I've ever seen Kelly be anything but polite in an interview. She just didn't get the random questions.

Breakaway was initally brilliant. The fun wore off for me after a while. My December is fantastic. It's not really an album you'd expect to be discussed on Popjustice, but it was brilliantly written and wonderfuly executed. The riffs on Can I Have A Kissare hypnotic, the desolate lonliness of Irvine heartbreaking, and the ever catchy One Minute is better than the entire of Breakaway.

I can understand why people on here might not appreciate it, due to the lack of obvious pop production (apart from One Minute and Judas, you fools!), but there are so many reasons to love it I have to stop now before I get boring.

I tried with 'My December'. I really did! And I love when artists go all dark and moody, as P!nk manages to do so brilliantly. But the album just didn't work for me. I adore 'Sober' and quite like 'Chivas' but the rest just didn't cut it for me. As for 'Breakaway' - any album that boasts 'Because of you' and 'Addicted' as part of its tracklist is bound to be all kinds of amazing!

I still listen to Addicted and Behind These Hazel Eyes on a regular basis, have no fear! It's just other tracks like Gone and Hear Me which lost their shine.

Oh I agree with that totally! I don't listen to the album as a whole anymore, but I will always remember the year where it didn't leave my side. We will not forget, etc...

I love My December actually, and I now choose to listen to it over Breakaway. It's a bit more interesting and varied. There's the fun pop numbers (One Minute, Never Again, Don't Waste Your Time) and then little gems like Irvine, Can I Have A Kiss, and Yeah.

A cliche and a complete myth. Do you not watch television?

I got a huge feeling when I was reading the interview that she'd be coming off a lot better if I could see her reactions to the questions.

At least she came off 100% better than Ryan Tedder did.

So happy you responded to that; I just didn't have the energy (especially as I've spent the day telling 'knock-knock' jokes and doing stunt falls with my other American friends).

Indeed. And given some of the utter shit that passes for comedy over here, we're not really best placed to look down our noses at ANYONE.

Fun pop numbers? The most upbeat-sounding song on that album has the chorus 'One minute you're low, the next minute you're slowly sinking into something below'. Those songs aren't fun, they're just uptempo.

I thought this was one of the best interviews that I have seen on here in a long time. However as it is a text based interview we can't see her reactions and know how she really took this and we can take the text how we see fit, personally I think she was highly perplexed at the type of questions that she was being asked and this is the reason why this interview was so good. I mean remember the Jesse McCartney video thing last year, he came over as funny and just a nice guy but would that same feeling come across if "it's harder to make a pole than a hole" in text?
