Kim Petras - "brrr" + General Discussion

Brr already has 2.1m plays after 10 days (Rockstar has 3.4m after 3 months). Maybe she'll finally stick to a sound now...

That rockstar song being such a colossal failure in every aspect is still such a scream. Whoever decided that that would be the follow-up to bagging a feature in one of the biggest hits of the year must really hate her.
Still hate the fact that Max Martin worked on it. How. But at least it'll soon be forgotten as the GP did too.

How everything has been dog shit since "Turn Off The Light" was released and she hasn't been dropped yet is astounding.

She probably hasn’t been dropped because she’s technically signed through Luke’s label. Republic would just put her in limbo and stop funding the project if anything, because she is someone who could thrive independently (as she was before) or with a competent system around her.

Kind of screaming at the audacity to tease a reveal of an album concept without a release date

Past album concepts have included Halloween, Slut, and being Problematique. Just give us some music that isn't throwaway Kim.
Or don't... At this point it's rather amusing either way.

'Why hasn't X act been dropped' in 2023 is silly. It's not the 90s, the 00s, deals aren't multimillion ones, acts cost peanuts to stay signed, money can be made in other ways, in short labels don't have the urge to drop acts when they've been doing semi okay. It is bad when you're GRACEY / Claudia Valentina etc because you're dropped without even making a wave, but acts like Kim who can do shows here and there, have streaming hits, are still commercially viable won't get dropped easily, or like labels got rid of acts the second their single didn't make the Top 5 in 2002. Also Kim writes stuff, her publishing will keep her afloat for a while.

I’m late but I love her warbling cover of Running… there’s something captivating about a modern day pop star with such a complex relationship with gender singing a song about gender politics.

There's also something captivating about a pop star with such a complex relationship with taste and originality competently but not compellingly singing a one of a kind masterpiece.
