It has been brought to my attention that the song is called Don't Regret... there's no "It".

Well...

Hey Payette,
...

However if you come to the end of submissions and noone has sent 'Cyberpunk' we need to have that conversation and hostly powers might have to be used.

Thanks!

Haha ok, noted!

I guess you really had no idea what song I was talking about and 2 conversations later you forgot.

But it worked out really well, we all spotlighted the ATEEZ song and now my underrated bop was actually highlighted in the rate.

This was my lowest score among WONHO tracks, but I’m still a little surprised to see it go so soon…
The way the rate last year did Stray Kids so dirty I thought we’d see at least one of their tracks eliminated by now…

Well not on my watch, hopefully.

Ok you all had your fun so can we let the mouse go and eliminate Ballroom Extravaganza now? What a joyless song. Gives me Harry Styles.

Ballroom Extravaganza
DPR Ian disrespects the LGBTQ+ community by coopting a queer expression to name his Kings of Leon tribute piece. Electric chair!

Y'all are some HATERS... fine!!!

Let's eliminate the hot, golden skinned hunk.

The way you used to look at me
And the bits of leftover hope
Stop me from turning around"

Hehehe, nope, Ballroom Extravaganza lives another day. We do however say goodbye to yet another Team Tears song, Chase by Minho. This is the actual lead single for his debut album, which also features last year’s Heartbreak. Chase follows a similar sound palette, though it’s a touch more dramatic and noir-esque with its piano loops. This is also one of those special cases where a male artist's song's average was higher in KSOTY than in KPB. Make of that what you will!

Long time Shawol @Christopher (6) is slightly shady: “Awww, when did we start letting Minho sing?!? He sounds lovely, good on him. This song isn't very special, however.” Our other Shawol is not so kind: @eccentricsimply (3.5) says: “Also same score as KSOTY and similar commentary: I was never going to like a Minho solo unless it was an extraordinary song and this is simply not it. The aesthetic and concept of the debut really fit him, but that's about where my compliments end. Maybe one day he'll release a comeback I enjoy more.”

@boom bazooka joe (8.5) wishes a different track was featured. “Obviosuly the single was going to rate highest in the charts, but I actually find Chase a bit inferior to the rest of the album, particularly Runaway and Choice. This is still a great tune though.” Oh, I really like Choice, it almost feels like a cute concept for him, kii. I wonder what a more upbeat/fun Minho release would be like, instead of another heartbreak jam? Release your own View, king, or maybe something like Wonho’s bangers. I know you have it in you! Maybe that would please @enjoy (6.5): “I feel like i'm over this RnB sound coming from SM artists. Give me something more, change it up a bit, give me another.”

Two voters apparently have beef with… finger snaps? @MmmDani (5.5) looks for alternatives: “An underwhelming chorus and a percussion-style that I’ve never liked. There’s probably a remix of this song somewhere that I’d love.” Sorry, there isn’t any, I’ve looked! Fruity king @Untouchable Ace (5) is appalled: “I try to stay away from this kind of masculine finger snapping beat. it's not what my popjustice wants. so how did it end up in this rate?” Well, it’s a SHINee solo, it was never not going to chart!

@Attis (2) wonders: “Has the K-drama offering dried out?” Maybe that’s why the MV is so… drama-esque. Didn’t he also direct it? Talent! @Salami (2) is bored: “This is a slog. Nothing interesting happening here.” OK, there really was just one more piece of commentary from a high scorer and even that one isn’t entirely positive, but let’s end with it anyway: @chrisjche (8) says: “A solid debut, though "Heartbreak" was better! They went the right route for his voice. The vocal processing/autotune is a little much though and takes away from the emotion.” See, this is a song where I think it’s actually a Myah Marie case. It definitely sounds like someone else singing with him in the chorus nn

I really don't get why that song is so disliked. Are people really that bothered that he allegedly can't sing or...
I kind of love that we as a community have no consistency on whether good vocals are important or not ddd. Some artists will get absolutely bulldozed for their alleged bad vocals and then we have groups with anywhere from 4-13 members and not a vocalist to be found where it’s not a problem ddd. But at least we are consistent with our inconsistency!

I think we just like what we like and THEN try to find justifications for it, which often aren't really congruent with our own opinions of other artists/songs, as you're saying.

Anyway, big spoilers: the last song in the Bottom 5 will be... a Team Tears song.

I will bring you the first Hottest Idols results soon! Charting idols will be the ones who received 25 points or more.
