And the bits of leftover hope
Stop me from turning around"

Hehehe, nope, Ballroom Extravaganza lives another day. We do however say goodbye to yet another Team Tears song,
Chase by
Minho. This is the actual lead single for his debut album, which also features
last year’s Heartbreak. Chase follows a similar sound palette, though it’s a touch more dramatic and noir-esque with its piano loops. This is also one of those special cases where a male artist's song's average was
higher in KSOTY than in KPB. Make of that what you will!
Long time Shawol
@Christopher (6) is slightly shady:
“Awww, when did we start letting Minho sing?!? He sounds lovely, good on him. This song isn't very special, however.” Our other Shawol is not so kind:
@eccentricsimply (3.5) says:
“Also same score as KSOTY and similar commentary: I was never going to like a Minho solo unless it was an extraordinary song and this is simply not it. The aesthetic and concept of the debut really fit him, but that's about where my compliments end. Maybe one day he'll release a comeback I enjoy more.”
@boom bazooka joe (8.5) wishes a different track was featured.
“Obviosuly the single was going to rate highest in the charts, but I actually find Chase a bit inferior to the rest of the album, particularly Runaway and Choice. This is still a great tune though.” Oh, I really like Choice, it almost feels like a cute concept for him, kii. I wonder what a more upbeat/fun Minho release would be like, instead of another heartbreak jam? Release your own View, king, or maybe something like Wonho’s bangers. I know you have it in you! Maybe that would please
@enjoy (6.5):
“I feel like i'm over this RnB sound coming from SM artists. Give me something more, change it up a bit, give me another.”
Two voters apparently have beef with… finger snaps?
@MmmDani (5.5) looks for alternatives:
“An underwhelming chorus and a percussion-style that I’ve never liked. There’s probably a remix of this song somewhere that I’d love.” Sorry, there isn’t any, I’ve looked! Fruity king
@Untouchable Ace (5) is appalled:
“I try to stay away from this kind of masculine finger snapping beat. it's not what my popjustice wants. so how did it end up in this rate?” Well, it’s a SHINee solo, it was never not going to chart!
@Attis (2) wonders:
“Has the K-drama offering dried out?” Maybe that’s why the MV is so… drama-esque. Didn’t he also direct it? Talent!
@Salami (2) is bored:
“This is a slog. Nothing interesting happening here.” OK, there really was just one more piece of commentary from a high scorer and even that one isn’t entirely positive, but let’s end with it anyway:
@chrisjche (8) says:
“A solid debut, though "Heartbreak" was better! They went the right route for his voice. The vocal processing/autotune is a little much though and takes away from the emotion.” See, this is a song where I think it’s actually a Myah Marie case. It definitely sounds like someone else singing with him in the chorus nn
