We have to say goodbye to ONF’s lone entry for this year’s rate, Runaway a b-side from their surprise special album released during the group’s enlistment, which they had recorded beforehand. Hmm… I can understand why the title track wasn’t picked, but I’m not super into this one either. The production is good as usual, but this was one of the songs I had the most difficulty committing to memory during my listening period. @enjoy (6) also thinks it’s “A bit boring... Can't help but feel like the other groups made this song but a lot better.” Now I’m curious to know which groups/songs you mean!
Boy Booster @nikkysan (9), who surprisingly didn’t give this his 11, comments: “This is a fairly standard uptempo track for ONF until the bridge comes in… *spongebob_levitating.gif*” This part also gets a shout out from @MmmDani (8) “The bridge is delicious.” @chrisjche (9) points to the instrumental: “This was a standout in the playlist for me - love the strings and overall has a great groove!” The string section was definitely a very inspired choice! They should have built on it a little longer.
@boom bazooka joe (7) says: “Bad verses, great chorus. I enjoy ONF so much as as group of vocalists though that I always enjoy even their mid songs more than if it was by a less capable group.” The second verse is pretty bad, but I love the section of build-up to the chorus… which I don’t think is that great. Our forum’s representative FUSE @Wills (9.75) praises the track: “Initially seemed a bit generic by their standards, but ONF on autopilot is still better than what pretty much anyone else had to offer” I respect that statement!

Nooo, I have to be a hater again! But I promise this is the last time for this rate, as lucky for me I really like every song in the Top 10. I don’t know what it is but I really don’t care for this type of song… it feels like a mile a minute, which normally I’d love, but there are too many switch ups and despite the heavy focus on vocals I can’t get into the melodies and they kinda play second fiddle to everything going on around them in the production. I do like the electric guitar moments, though. @Salami (8) comments on that: “It almost went a bit metal (As metal as K-pop can be) towards the end, great switch up.”
@boom bazooka joe (6) joins me in sipping a bit of haterade: “I'd have to look back, but I kind of think I've never given a great score to a single Golden Child song. I have nothing against them -- but their music does nothing for me. The first 10 seconds of this song is great though!” The vocal is vocaling in that part for sure! I think I have liked some of their songs but I’m too tired to go check right now fkfkk
Most of you seemed to really enjoy Replay though. @nikkysan (8.5) thinks it’s “Better than 85% of boy group offerings this year but #JusticeForKnockingOnMyDoor” Agree to disagree, bestie! @Slice of Life (10) says “its kinda super flawless????? wig!!”. @chrisjche (9.5) compares it to their 2nd gen label mates: “A fun one, reminds me of INFINITE in the best way.” I know a bunch of you guys must be excited for their comeback! @enjoy (8.5) enjoys: “First time listening them and yeah, i quite like this song. The chorus is a bit of a moment.”
@Untouchable Ace (9) gave it a great score but only dragged it in the commentary! “I played this a bit around release but coming back to it has made me realise it doesn't punch hard enough, especially for a prison (just a prison for twinks i guess.) The inspiration genres from probably dated 2011 synth effects to soft metal guitar strums don't enhance the hook enough.” And last but not least, @Attis (10) calls it: “Tron sci-fi battle realness, yes maam” I liked it better when DRIPPIN did it, teebs!

It's Jackson Wang from China! Looking at older videos of him in GOT7 it's kinda funny to see him transition from a fuckboy image to clean-cut prince charming and now to a sort of eccentric rockstar persona. And he pulls them all off! I think he exudes hotness even when he looks a bit disheveled and crazy, fight me ffff And ever since going solo for real he has surprised us with a pretty diverse and solid discography. I'm a big fan!
