I'm living for these write-ups chronicling @Slice of Life's messy young K-Pop stan period. Forcing yourself to like/dislike songs, hating on your faves' "rivals", etc. Iconic.
Thank you!! But I was 21 years old in 2012…….. so I was not that young………. What does that say about me omg…….

Was I the equivalent of a 8+5 A*my back then……..

I was a 2NE1 and Big Bang stan so it checks out…….

AHHHHHH my fave EXID song ever! For some reason, I thought this would flop? Thank fuck it didn't! This is the wonderful, the perfect Every Night. The way this song has at least three versions (that I know of)... kinda iconique. Every Night is actually a rearrangement of the track Call, which was on EXID's first mini album, Hippity Hop. And in 2015, another version called Every Night - Version 2 was included in EXID's Ah Yeah mini album. And you know what's even crazier? Every iteration of the song is perfect! But it's the single version that's my favourite for sure. It's the first EXID song that really captured my attention and while the group has released a lot of excellent singles since then, it's still Every Night that owned my heart. It's just so good. I think what I love the most about Every Night is just the very understated production - not boring though. It's the perfect backdrop to the vocal slayage of Solji, Hyerin and Hani. Come to think of it, EXID truly has one of the best vocal line in all of K-Pop. And in Every Night, they showcased that fact the best.

@Slice of Life I didn't vote for this <3

News is incredible. I cannot explain how I suddenly felt complete in the moment that I discovered that song which was thanks to this forum. It's absolutely one of the greatest songs of all time and I think should be top 10.

Regardless this list you've created is a friggin' amazing list of songs and I making a playlist out of it once it's over. You did good with this selection of songs KPJ!

FACTS! It really goes to show how strong KPOP was back then and has continued to be just as strong today. It is a damn shame NEWS missed the top 10. I too think the song cemented my love for them. It's just so unabashed, from its song structure, to singing style, to its choreography. Ughh what a time to be alive back then!

We love a true nugu anthem! This is Gangkiz' magnum opus, Mama! Gangkiz debuted in 2012 with the single Honey Honey. From what I remember, the members were models or something before debuting? Or maybe I just made that up, I don't know. I also vaguely (or falsely?) remember that T-ara were heavily involved in their debut. But anyway, I hated Honey Honey FFFFF! And I also hated Gangkiz because to me, they were being pushed too much by Kim Kwang Soo and I was afraid T-ara would be sidelined because of them. See how mature I was back then HGSAKJFGSADHF! But not even my hatred for Gangkiz could make me not bop to their follow-up (and sadly, last) single, Mama. I tried my best to pretend the song is trash... but it was a lost battle. Mama was just too good of a song and I am still mad that it went to Gangkiz instead of T-ara FFFFFFFFFFFFF! Like, T-ara would've made a song this a Gaon number 1 hit. But props to the Gangkiz members because they really slayed too. The assured vocals... the iconique choreography... the slightly off rap... Gangkiz gagged me. It's a shame that they weren't given more comebacks after Mama because I just know they would've killed those too. Oh well, at least we'll always have Mama!

Small fun fact...it's choreographed by Jonte Moaning but watered down by CC media.
Anyway why is Electric shock still in the top 10 but Lovey Dovey and News are out? *skull emoji

So are we ready to meet our top 5 songs?

But first, let's say goodbye to the 5 that didn't make it.

We begin our top 10 with the iconique, the flawless Lipstick by Orange Caramel! Not giving this any points still haunts me especially because it's my 11 in the Orange Caramel Rate. But I guess it didn't really need my help as it made the top 10 anyway, slay! Sadly, I don't quite remember how I discovered Orange Caramel. It could be through Shanghai Romance or Lipstick. But since we're talking about Lipstick here, let me just pretend it's my gateway to Orange Caramel kekeke! No but Lipstick is genuinely such a great song. Like most of y'all, it also took time for me to get into the cutesy side of K-Pop. I used to find aegyo so weird FFFFFF but now, I really can't imagine myself not enjoying it. I don't know; I just like cute things and concepts and idols, etc.! Lipstick is not all that cutesy though and if you're interested to venture into the world of aegyo, I think this is a great place to start. The music video for Lipstick is truly one of the best, not just of 2012 but all of K-Pop. It's so, so stupid but I also can't look away. Orange Caramel literally invented ping pong.

Macsun: Another great track from one of the best sub-units in KPOP.

Finishing at a respectable ninth place is my favourite 9Muses song of all time, Ticket! You know what, I'm actually kinda gagged that this did so well and even became a part of the top 10. For some reason, Ticket always underperforms on rates and so I expected it to chart at, like, twenty-second or something FFFFFFF! But it fully deserves its place in the top 10 so let's celebrate that! Ticket was actually my proper introduction to Namyu and lemme just say, I'm so glad I gave it a chance because I know I would've killed myself if I missed out on their comebacks after this. I mean, missing out on 2013 Namyu? The horror! But Ticket... there's just something so relentless about this song that I find so attractive. It starts at 100 and never dips until the very end. It's like an all-out assault to the senses and I wouldn't have it any other way. Shoutout to the girls for making that cheap-ass music video still worthy of many replays. I watched this music video a million times, I can practically copy Hyuna's facial expressions and mannerisms during her little acting scene! An actress!
