Unfortunately finishing dead last is Young Posse's XXL. I'm so sorry, @thommyh unnie! I know you're gonna see this immediately after you wake up FFFFFFF! I promise I didn't plan this!

XXL is the title track of Young Posse's second mini album. It was written and composed by Kiggen and Rick Bridges. XXL didn't enter the Circle Digital Chart but it did appear at number 82 on the component Download Chart.

Young Posse... is definitely an interesting group... which cannot be said about a lot of other fifth generation acts, no tea, no shade. If you told me DSP Entertainment - the mastermind behind beloved girl groups KARA, Rainbow and April - would debut a hip-hop girl group, I would have laughed at you. But yeah, that's exactly what happened. I don't think I'll ever recover from my first listen of their debut single, Macaroni Cheese. The trauma... I still feel it until today!

But starting with XXL, I think these girls and their music started to grow on me. I don't think XXL is out-of-this-world amazing or something, by the way. But I think it's fun and full of personality and I like that it's different from what everyone else is serving in K-Pop these days. God knows we need some variety! I would've loved if Ate That was here instead of XXL only because I think it's Young Posse's best song yet. Although I fear that one would've performed just as bad as XXL, kii! Oh well!

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@boom bazooka joe (1): "Went through this entire song list shocked that there wasn't an absolute abomination but HERE we are. This is a parody and honestly everyone involved should be ashamed dddd. Shame we never heard "Santa Claus Is Coming To Hood" though." [Slicey: Right? We need to hear that misunderstood masterpiece!]

@ohnostalgia (1): "I need to apologize to all the XG "hip hop" tracks omg."

@eccentricsimply (2): "I think the criticism they receive is warranted, but I also I just think they don't sell this too well. I'm not going to be an hypocrite, I know some other groups do this forced hip hop aesthetic, but they look funny at best, these girls just look... embarrassing dddd I'm sorry to them, I guess, but it's not a good concept for them and this is not a good song either. Also the music video is just. It certainly is a choice."

@love choerry motion (2): "Jesy Nelson, please lock up your Tostitos and microwaved cheeze dip" [Slicey: Jesy WISHES she has half the swag of these girls!!]

@savilizabeths (2): "I can't decide if I like this better or worse than Macaroni Cheese. These girls randomly performed at a Kpop festival in my city and they were pretty cute, just not for me."

@Vixen (2): "I guess they deserve some points for the…novelty? For the…erm…""originality"" of the MV ? But also…the song is absolutely terrible, so all those points are taken right back off xo"

@aux (3): "I'm so sorry [REDACTED], I know you love this song but mama... It is shit from a butt."

@leedlelee... (3): "I know K-Pop has always taken influence from Motown, hip-hop, and R&B but this is giving minstrelsy a little…"

@Salami (3): "This is kind of cringe." [Slicey: You know you're doomed when even @Salami doesn't fuck with your song...]

@clowezra (3.5): "I actually like the sound they’re riffing on here but it’s feeling culturally insensitive here kids."

@Joli Chat (4): "is this the horrible song everyone’s talking about in the commentary tea? It has to be, right?"

@mika (5): "The bass is nice and the overall retro vibes too"

@roblognick (6): "The video is like some blockbuster movie, so it makes sense that the song is average at best."

@Serg. (8): "Ahjuma cameo just elevated this song"

@Cotton Park (9): "badass"

@ultraviolet (9): "Ppl were so THREATENED by them they didn’t let Santa come to HOOD lol xoxox #HUNGRYTOUR #XXL #YOUNGPOSSEGANG #ITSGIVINGATETHATSIS #4+4ISWHAT?!."

@askew (10): "Ouu XG don't make that face." [Slicey: FFFFFF leave them ALONE!]

@soratami (10): "Definitely my favourite discovery of the whole rate, it’s amazing how they basically invented classic hip hop here."

@thommyh (10): "You're not gonna get the song the first time you hear it. After the second and third time, you're gonna be like, 'Whoa, what is this?'. It sounds nothing... nothing like anything that's out right now. Um... you know, the lyrics are very... um..." [Slicey: Again, I'm so sorry, unnie!]

@ysev (10): "I just know that ODB is looking down on them from heaven with a smile on his face. Say about Young P*ssé what you want but they really have their own lane that no other group is in." [Slicey: I feel sad that they're changing their concept for their next comeback...]

@thommyh love you down and thank you for the account but I couldn't do it... sorry bestie we'll grow stronger from this

You finally got your lick back after that year I tanked Ice Cream.

I've came close to having the first song out before but now I finally have that accolade under my belt. Which is difficult to get, not everyone has that to their credit.

I sent in an 11 contender and the other is a lovely 4.75

Discord bowed out at number 99 last year. And now, T.B.H could only reach number 100. Back to back flops! Poor QWER!

T.B.H is the lead single of QWER's first mini album, Manito. It was composed by Lee Dong Hyuk (PRISMFILTER), Elum (PRISMFILTER), GESTURE (PRISMFILTER), Hong Hun Gi and Han Ayoung with lyrics written by Lee Dong Hyuk (PRISMFILTER), Elum (PRISMFILTER), GESTURE (PRISMFILTER), Kim Hye Jung and member Magenta. T.B.H was a massive, massive hit for QWER, peaking at number 4 on the weekly Circle Digital Chart. It would go on and rank 11th in the year-end chart. Slay! T.B.H was also hailed as the Best Band Performance in the 2024 MAMA Awards.

QWER is a very controversial figure not just in Korea but internationally as well. Some of their controversies include a member making derogatory remarks about feminism and another member making negative comments about marriage and childbirth. Some members are also getting hate for being former (?) broadcast jockeys who did provocative livestreams. Despite all of that, they have emerged as one of the biggest success stories of the fifth generation of K-Pop. Kinda iconique if you really think about it.

I tried to separate my feelings for QWER's controversies and the song T.B.H for this rate but I understand if that wasn't possible for a few voters. Personally, T.B.H's sound is right up my alley. I love me some anime OST-sounding production. And like I said last year, I still don't get the hate for their vocals FFFFFFF! To me, the main vocalist sounds phenomenal. I did deduct a few points because I felt like T.B.H is a little too basic sometimes. I feel like I've heard this song before for some reason. I really like QWER's sound but I'm gonna need them to step it up a notch and give us an elevated take on ~anime OST music~.

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@Salami (1): "I hate this. Everything I hate about cute concepts in Kpop but on steroids."

@mika (2): "Too much going on"

@Serg. (2.5): "I heard one of the members is cancelled and we're supposed to boycott them, now I'm not the one to boycott groups for that but what I will boycott them for is the terrible song they just released!"

@clowezra (3): "Something 14 year old j-pop weeaboo me would have eaten up but nah."

@eccentricsimply (3): "Didn't one of them call feminists crazy bitches? Yeah, it's a no from me. Music is just not good to even warrant a single pass." [Slicey: Yes, it was member Chodan who said that.]

@BEST FICTION (3.5): "This song is not good enough to ignore the anti-feminism comments from one of the members. We could've just put FATE by (G)I-DLE in the rate instead." [Slicey: FFFFFF the way (G)I-DLE's Soyeon also got massive ton of hate for collaborating with QWER ASHFGJSAHFVHJ!!]

@love choerry motion (3.5): "Great for the intro to an animation but i don't want it"

@boom bazooka joe (6): "There is something very anime opening credits of this song, which I like, but the instrumental sections are wildly annoying, which I don't like. Is there name pronounced Queer?" [Slicey: It's pronounced Q-W-E-R!!]

@codecat (6): "You know...I should like this. That frantic instrumental in the beginning is something that's so me...but then I remember why I don't like anything from this group: my fucking God I can't stand those fucking sappy anime choruses. And this is coming from me!"

@roblognick (6): "I'm sure it's supposed to sound a bit like it's from 2009 or whatever. It's cute but mostly average."

@Joli Chat (6.75): "it’s giving Sound! Euphonium."

@Crisp X (8): "There's something old school about this, making it stand out in the playlist, but the frenetic production (that amen break!!) elevates it. Wouldn't mind K-Pop sounding more like this in 2025" [Slicey: FFFFFFF the way most of the voters would abandon K-Pop if your last sentence comes true.....]

@Sprockrooster (8): "Did they pick up, where Dreamcatcher left us?"

@Vixen (8): "Okay GFRIEND's nieces, I'm listening (well minus the anti-feminism sentiment of some of the members kdkkdfjf)"

@savilizabeths (8.5): "Someone tap them to make an anime opening stat. I feel like the quality has gone way up since the last time I checked them out last year."

@Ana Raquel (10): "*Gets Biker Rin and goes to Candyland to clear this 8* Hard track and barely unlocks Master difficulty after finishing it with a 90,27% accuracy*"

@FunkyButChic (10): "I get why this wasn't on the forum's radar but it did feel wrong not having one of the biggest girl groups of the year represented in the rate. TikTok cross contamination means there's a bigger audience than ever for this J-pop-lite, and I'm happy to hear more K-pop rock out to a BPM over 130."

@leedlelee... (10): "If you skanks do QWER dirty AGAIN I’m posting sc*t p*rn in the general thread…" [Slicey: And now we wait......]

I thought I was supporting Musicianship by bumping up my score, turns out it was Internalized Misogyny in K-On! drag? Can y'all air out the drama and conflama before voting closes so I can have a morally airtight ballot? This is really bad PR for me, you know. Submitting my official disavowal of the "QWER" community and @FunkyButChic.
