The lone song that didn't receive a single 10. It did score an 11 though. This is tripleS' Midnight Flower.

Midnight Flower is a song taken from tripleS' first full album, <ASSEMBLE24>. It was composed by Yoon Jong Sung (MonoTree), Denzel Chain (THE HUB) and Chanti (THE HUB) with lyrics written by member Nakyoung, Hollin (MonoTree), 329 and Kang Gyu Rin. Midnight Flower didn't appear on the main Circle Digital Chart but it did peak at number 103 on the component Circle Download Chart.

Can I just say... I'm screaming that all my favourite tripleS songs released in 2024 didn't qualify for this rate FFFFFFFF! Non Scale and Vision, you will always be dear to me, my loves! But anyway, of the four tripleS songs that did make this rate, Midnight Flower turned out to be my favourite. So now I'm screaming again that it's the one getting eliminated first FFFFFF! I can never win with you, unnies.

How can someone not love the dream-pop vibes of Midnight Flower is beyond me. I can totally imagine this song soundtracking a key scene in a coming-of-age Japanese teen anime/movie. A scene that definitely involved some running. Even the admittedly weak vocals somehow work in the song's favour. I think the amateurish vocals suit the dreamy, warm, nostalgic quality of the production. Yeah, maybe I just miss watching my comfort Asian media FFFFFF!

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@Serg. (2): "I genuinely think nothing on value would be lost if this entire group's music just got wiped off the face of the earth, not that its extremely bad but its extremely forgettable. Actually nvm it's also bad. Like poor it." [Slicey: The first sentence..... ouch.]

@clowezra (4): "A bit nothingy isn’t it."

@mika (4): "I don't get how an album could be that different from song to song"

@thommyh (4): "The mixing literally sounds unfinished, right? Like why are they singing this in the room next to me. But it was definitely fun I liked the beat." [Slicey: You're not getting ~THE VIBE~ unnie!!]

@ysev (5): "My God... tripleS is probably the group with the highest number of amazing b-sides right now and this is what y'all chose to superbloom? Tragic!"

@boom bazooka joe (6): "This kind of sounds nothing like tripleS to me?" [Slicey: Well to be fair, tripleS does explore a lot of sounds.]

@codecat (6): "I would rather be listening to Cupkakke remixes on Youtube thanks"

@Joli Chat (6): "B-sides be B-sideing!"

@Crisp X (7): "Sounds like a teen movie soundtrack (complimentary)" [Slicey: You always get me, unnie!]

@soratami (7): "Very easily the worst tripleS song here but I guess the girls can try a bit of a pop rock cosplay as a treat."

@aux (8): "I know this isn't really anything to do with this song itself, but I adored this entire album from tripleS. They've really gotten two 10/10 records this year." [Slicey: Agreed. <ASSEMBLE24> and <Performante> are among 2024's best albums for sure!]

@savilizabeths (9.5): "I spent a good few months completely addicted to this (and the album in general). A true b-side highlight of 2024."

@ultraviolet (11): "It’s 2016 again. I’m waiting by my window as the sun sets and the clouds disappear within the sky. What would you do if you could relive those moments again? All those moments when we didn’t know we could describe ourselves as free. All those moments where we wish we could’ve understood how much we would miss feeling like this. I didn’t mind the cold. As long as the adrenaline covered it up. Because it was enough with the presence of people who could always lend you their shoulder. My sister was outside with the other teens her age, and I remember how impatient we were to grow up. But when that time came, almost all the magic was gone. Now, the streets and alleys are empty. The sound of laughter amidst the pedals reeling across the pavement has evaporated. The pictures are hard to see. I hate December now. Our bodies are not as energetic. But I still remember, everytime the parties and games rush through my head. It lasted for a mere second until it became a memory. But if I could, I’d run forever, chasing the light, like we always did." [Slicey: Excuse me, why are you attacking me with this beautiful essay....]

He/Him
Things are going pretty well so far......a little too well ddd. Toxic Til The End is the biggest surprise so far I guess but, at the same time, I understand why it was kicked out because even I feel like it needed to go a bit harder with the dramatics. It doesn't need to be full-blown telenovela level but even something more like this classic...

And with that, the measly 6(?) boy songs escaped bottom 5. Let's celebrate that!

Sadly, this one couldn't escape bottom 10 though, kii!!

And with this elimination, we only have five more remaining songs by male acts. Tonight, we say goodbye to Ten's Nightwalker.

Nightwalker is the official solo debut single of Ten and is taken from his eponymous first mini album. It was written and composed by Adam Seuba, Mathias Neumann, Nikolaj Andersen, Svante Furevi, Sebastian Axelsson and Hilda Denny. Nightwalker peaked at number 121 on the Circle Digital Chart, making it his most successful solo song so far.

As an NCTzen, I've always felt like SM Entertainment has been plotting Ten to be more of a solo artist than a member of NCT or WayV. And why not? The guy is a triple threat: a tremendous dancer, a decent singer and with the looks to boot. After several (and I mean several FFFFFF!) solo songs released under SM Station, Ten finally got the budget for a full-fledged official solo debut. And for the most part, I think he succeeded on Nightwalker.

I've always imagined Ten's solo music to sound closer to SHINee's Key's so it's a bit of a surprise to hear Nightwalker to not be that at all. Nightwalker is a lot more hard-sounding than I expected it to be. The chorus is definitely my favourite part but the middle 8 is a revelation too. I just had to give deduct a few points because of that, uh, tragic pre-chorus. The straining... mama, let's aim for notes within your range next time around.

Ten is scheduled to release his second mini album, Stunner, on March 24th. A pre-release single called Bambola will be released a week before the mini album though. Make sure to stay tuned for Ten's solo comeback!

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@love choerry motion (1): "This is Ten alright... TEN OUT OF 100!"

@Serg. (2.5): "Bland and boring, if I'm gonna listen to men it has to be catchy at the very least or pleasant to look at." [Slicey: Damn.... double homicide omg]

@ysev (3): "I hate this dark faux mystrerious sound. Always have. It's so wannabe and cringe. It's like Seulgi 28 Reasons' twisted sibling. Bin it. And then that Sicilian guitar riff that has no place being in this mess? He's gonna swim with the fishes."

@BEST FICTION (4): "This is kinda giving DJ HYO teas but this guy is just not a convincing soloist to me, I'm not feeling her." [Slicey: Now why is HYO catching strays, bye!]

@mika (4): "I'm afraid this sounds too much like a maxi challenge"

@savilizabeths (4.5): "His vocals on the pre-chorus...oh dear..." [Slicey: FFFFFF right! I don't remember it being that rought, oop.]

@codecat (5): "Well...I'm looking forward to the next song on the playlist as I write this!"

@Joli Chat (5): "the music video is giving resident evil, the song itself is giving Resident Evil’s cinematic universe Rotten Tomatoes scores lmao." [Slicey: You're on a roll with these nasty comments, unnie FFFFFF!!]

@Oleander (8.5): "To quote Beyoncé: "She thought she was killing that shit, I told her, "Go harder." It's very good but I wish it went harder like give me the same energy and power as Gain's Paradise Lost."

@Vixen (8.5): "Another song by a male artist that doesn't suck and is in fact a bop? Maybe you guys have finally gotten the memo, okay werk!!" [Slicey: Screaming @ you enjoying a song by a male artist for once... and the jury decides it's the worst of the bunch!]

@boom bazooka joe (10): "Whoever submitted this, I hope your pillow always stays cool at night, you beautiful soul. The way Ten outcunts nearly every other Idol should be studied."
