The kii that we are saying this is the man friendly year because there’s only be one male elimination so far when in reality this might be the lowest male attended KSOTY rate yet? (Someone might need to fact check that ddd I’m just going off vibes here.)
And with that, LE SSERAFIM is down to just one song. Tonight, we say goodbye to the sweltering Smart.
Smart is the second official single from LE SSERAFIM's third mini album, Easy. It was produced by 13 and written by Score (13), Megatone (13), Supreme Boi, Arineh Karimi, BB Elliot, Zzz., "Hitman" Bang, Paige Garabito, Jasmin Lee Maming, Teodor Herrgårdh, Hadar Adora, Charli, Lee Eun-hwa (153/Joombas) and member Huh Yunjin. Smart was another megahit for LE SSERAFIM, peaking at number 8 on the weekly Circle Digital Chart. It ended up as the 64th biggest song of the year according to annual Circle Digital Chart.
The Easy era was a dark, dark age for me as a casual LE SSERAFIM enjoyer. The title track was a borefest. The mini album was forgettable. Except for one song. This one song ultimately saved the era for me and that is, of course, Smart. Smart is... far from original. It's basically just LE SSERAFIM and HYBE cashing on the success of Tyla's global smash hit, Water. I know this for a fact. But as the ancient Chinese proverb says, "波普就是波普" or "a bop is a bop." And I am not immune to the boppage of Smart.
K-Pop acts plagiarizingappropriating being inspired by Afropop/Afrobeats is not a new phenomenon. I guess in the case of Smart, it was just such a blatant copy of Tyla's Water... when Water wasn't even done smashing the charts when Smart was released ASKJJFHSKF... so I do get why a few of you aren't too kind to it. As for me, I have grown to be... accepting of LE SSERAFIM's tendency to jump on whatever's trending at the moment so Smart didn't quite faze me. I'm just glad Smart turned out to be a great song... something that I can't say the same for Easy. Yes, I am not done thrashing that song.
The one thing that I really enjoyed about Smart is that it allowed LE SSERAFIM to sing a song within their range. I looooove their vocals here, especially my girl Chaewon. You ate that, sister! And the less we hear Eunchae and Sakura rapping, the better it is for society. So thank you, THANK YOU to whoever decided to make all the members sing and not rap on Smart.
LE SSERAFIM just released their new single and album, Hot, a few days ago. Check it out if you haven't already.
@Serg. (2): "Tyla nachos... I hate blatant copies."[Slicey: The way you used to be one of the strongest LE SSERAFIM shooters... what happened, sister!!]
@askew (3.75): "Everything about this feels miscalculated."
@Ana Raquel (4): "Yeah I can't get past the accent here sorry" [Slicey: I agree... the accent they used here is just...]

@eccentricsimply (5): "Whenever fearnots try to convince people this song is not because of Tyla and the success of Water it's so funny dddddddd Sighs I don't know. It's fine. I don't think it's remotely interesting from them though."
@savilizabeths (6): "1-800-hot-n-fun is the superior LE SSERAFIM b-side from 2024, I'm sorry"
@aux (7.5): "All the commentary for this song is bound to be full of people saying "LE SSERAFIM wanted Tyla's nachos", isn't it?" [Slicey: FFFFF CORRECT! The Little Tylanols are in full force!!]
@boom bazooka joe (7.5): "This was a weird and mixed era for me. This song has grown on me a bit."

@Vixen (9.5): "That's my jam idc idc idc!! I do wish the final chorus when the girls are supposed to go off…kinda..yknow…went off a little more, but a 10 is a 10."[Slicey: A 10 that ended up as a 9.5, kii!!]
@Joli Chat (10): "COACHELLA! Are you ready to fuck my career up???! Let’s go! You know it’s funny because Coachella was anything but a smart choice lmao." [Slicey: I still haven't watched their Coachella set. Was it really that bad?]
@Salami (10): "Full disclosure I wish I hadn't submitted this because I prefer TRI.BE - Diamond, I just forgot about it when I was picking which song to enter. However, I do really like this a lot! Much better than Easy, I think it's my favourite song of theirs."
@soratami (10): "This didn’t grab me that much initially, but revisiting it these last few days, it’s soooo good. Quite possibly the best K-Pop goes Afropop song ever." [Slicey: The last sentence..... I wouldn't go that far hehe~]

@ysev (10): "We love you Tyla!" [Slicey: Stream PUSH 2 START!!]
