Our first of two Loossemble songs crashes at number 76. I... didn't quite expect this especially for a group as beloved in the subforum as LOONA. But yes, tonight we say goodbye to Girls' Night.

Girls' Night is the lead single of Loossemble's second mini album, One Of A Kind. It was composed by Wkly, Justin Reinstein and JJean with lyrics written by member Hyeju. Girls' Night did not enter the Circle Digital Chart but peaked at number 91 on the component Download Chart. That makes it their highest charting song on the said chart.

I feel like Girls' Night is way too over-hated to be honest. In my opinion, it's just on par with Sensitive so I don't get why a lot of Orbits (especially on stan Twitter) seem to hate it so much. I also think this sounds like a natural progression from the sound they explored with Sensitive... maybe just a little more feminine but nothing too crazy.

Loossemble songs will never feature vocals as good as, say, ARTMS' obviously because the Loossemble girls are not exactly the strongest of vocalists. And to be honest, I still hope - rather delusionally FFFFFFF - that one day, Chuu will feature in one of their singles just to have some main vocalist moment, you know? With that said, I think the vocals on Girls' Night are quite decent. Hyunjin even does a pretty flawless high note to end that middle 8. Slay yes mama! I do hate the rapping in the second verse though, kii! Like, there was no need for that at all.

Could Girls' Night stayed a little longer in the competition? Sure. But the competition is tough and we are now in that stage where songs deemed "good but not great" are bound to get eliminated sooner rather than later. Thankfully, Loossemble still has one song left, TTYL, which we'll hopefully not eliminate soon! Fingers crossed, you guys!

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@eliminathan (5): "MODHAUS are going to hell for taking all the vocalists..."

@mika (5): "Damn forgot to listen to that album" [Slicey: Listen to my He Said I Said, which is my fave album track from the One Of A Kind mini, bestie!!]

@Serg. (5.5): "Them not being in sync at all during dancing parts like did they film this in one take? If so then impressive!" [Slicey: FFFFFF I hate that I won't be able to unsee this now!!]

@boom bazooka joe (6): "Some nice throbbing synths through the chorus but it's truly the only memorable part of this song for me."

@Salami (7): "I mean this in the nicest way possible - this sounds like something Mamamoo would've done years ago." [Slicey: If that's the case, then why didn't you give this a higher score, bestie??]

@aux (9): "They were having a mother off"

@codecat (10): "WE LOVE YOU LOOSEMBLE!!! Those synth chords in the back of the post chorus...THE NEVERENDING CHORUS. The song being so HAPPY and dreamlike at the same time but still so punchy. Such a good song! I'm gonna miss them!!!" [Slicey: Let's hope they're not disbanding, sister!!]

@love choerry motion (10): "You can't go wrong with a song about girls being girls"

@roblognick (10): "Good old fashioned sounding Kpop music!"

@savilizabeths (10): "It may be my least favourite Loossemble title track but it's difficult to pick between three perfect songs, right?"

@Vixen (10): "It still kills me that this is essentially all five of LOONA's sub-vocalists and they're easily out-singing many 5th gen girlgroups ddd. Hell, lowkey just compare how Hyunjin is EATING that highnote in the bridge to, say, Heejin's highnote on 'Flower Rhythm' dddd, how the tables have turned! Honestly this is very fun and it might actually be my favorite titletracks of theirs still, even if I know most people prefer 'TTYL'. It's just so groovy and filled with hooks. It's very 2nd Gen-transition-to-3rd Gen in a way too?" [Slicey: So many 5th gen girlgroups to attack... but you chose ARTMS... I see right through you, unnie!!]

We go back to eliminating a song by a solo artist tonight. Unnies, say goodbye to BT14U by Bébe Yana & Closet Yi. BT14U is a collaborative single between Australian-Korean singer-songwriter Bébe Yana and Korean DJ/producer Closet Yi. It was produced by Closet Yi with lyrics written by Bébe Yana.

Bébe Yana last graced the #KSOTY premises back in 2022 when her single, Space Mulan, finished at a very respectable number 32 position. She isn't quite as lucky this year as BT14U only managed to reach number 75. But to be honest, for a song this... well, inaccessible, especially for people like me who have very mainstream tastes... outranking several songs by more well-known K-Pop acts is still a pretty massive achievement. So still, congrats to these unnies!

BT14U is actually my lowest rated song this year. Shoot me, I deserve it, etc. At this point, I'm just gonna admit that Bébe Yana's music maybe isn't for me. I really like the trance-y production of the song but... that's really all the positive I can say about it. The lyrics... which I could barely make out... don't really inspire any strong feelings from me. And I get it! Songs like this aren't about vocals or lyrics. It's more about ~vibes~ and ~feelings~. But that's just not what I'm into, sorry!

You know, I remember also not liking Space Mulan back in 2022 so I listened to it for this write-up and I have to say, I actually like it now FFFFFF!! Back then I gave it a 7, now I'd probably give it an 8. So maybe I shouldn't give up just yet on enjoying Bébe Yana's music. Maybe I'll like BT14U in 2027, kii!

THE JURY'S THOUGHTS:
@love choerry motion (3): "Too repetitive and it bothers my brain so much, I had to skip it all three four times I listened to it. My bad, I had to add a fourth time when reviewing my commentary. The vocals get a couple points from me though."

@savilizabeths (4): "Please give me more longer songs in Kpop, just not this one." [Slicey: SCREAM!!!! I get it though!]

@aux (6): "Baba Yaga ate some of the Charli xcx nachos."

@mika (6): "Not my favorite from her"

@eccentricsimply (7): "Great for gym and clubs, not so great for casual listening." [Slicey: Oh trust I will be dropping it down low to this in a club... if my shut-in ass goes to one, that is.]

@Crisp X (8.5): "Finally some ravey shit, feels like I'm listening to Boom Boom Satellites (complimentary)"

@codecat (9): "*Gia Gunn voice* TRANCE!"

@soratami (9): "Love to see this indie queen back in KSOTY <3" [Slicey: Right, I remember you being one of her biggest fans back then!!]

@ysev (9.5): "Oh mein Gott ich liebe Berlin! *sniff*" [Slicey: Now what is Liz... I mean, Elizabeth Helga Müller doing here??]

@YRSHKD (9.75): "Apparently I missed this long-ass cacophony, so thank you being here - I love it!"

@boom bazooka joe (10): "Never heard this before, but whoever submitted this deserves to have their ass ate. (If that is something they are into). Kind of giving Grimes when I liked her" [Slicey: SCREAMSAHJFGSAJH!! Lemme add this to the thread title!!]

@Joli Chat (10): "They broke into the Bank of the Grimespublic and stole the only good thing Grimes had in store for Fairies cum first."

@leedlelee... (10): "I love everything Bebe Yana touches…"

@Ana Raquel (11): "I have NO idea why this was so overlooked when it was released (see Icy On My Neck - a 10 - being released months later and almost having the double of streams. Anyway, I will always be a sucker for techno, and Bebe really sang she came do serve (sic) and truly served! Legend etc etc" [Slicey: You finally gave Bébe Yana your 11 this year... a loyal stan!!]
