HAPPY SLICÉMAS, OPPA-DEUL AND UNNIES. Yes, it's that time of the year again. It's the... Started in 2016 by @Squashua unnie, the K-Pop Song of The Year Rate has been one of the premiere events this humble subforum celebrates. The K-Pop Song of the Year Rate, the KSOTY Rate, gathers all of our favourite K-Pop songs released in that year and we rate all of them and in the end, only one will remain - that one song that truly defined the year and de-wigged us the most. Last year's edition of the KSOTY Rate was, if I may admit honestly, a little messier than usual. @Squashua unnie had to prioritize his personal life over the reveal of the results and the rate was left in a limbo. It took several members of this subforum to get the rate back on track and thankfully, the rate has been finally completed on September 22, 2018. Why am I telling y'all this? It's because I know people have been scarred by that experience. People will understandably have doubts whether this edition of the KSOTY Rate will face the same fate as last year's. And with a new host at its helm, someone with no rate experience under ha belt for that matter, this KSOTY Rate is already looking like another mess - and not the good kind. And I'm afraid that we will see a dangerous decline in the number of participants because of these issues. As the new host of the KSOTY Rate, I can't promise anything. What I can do is present my, ahem, extensive experience as the HBIC of the K-Popjustice Charts which I have been running for 26 months now. The K-Popjustice Charts, albeit not a legitimate rate, function almost exactly like one. And I think with my experience running the charts, I can also run the KSOTY Rate this time around. I can't compete with @Squashua unnie's extensive creativity and excellence in writing a post but I can try my best and run this rate as smoothly as I can. I hope y'all are okay with that. 2018 has been generous in giving us the most amazing K-Pop music. From forum favourites like EXID continuing their run of excellent singles, to sleeping giants like Apink releasing their best material in forever, to nugu artists like April finding the sound that works for them - 2018 has seen dramatic highs for K-Pop. And it would be a shame if not all of us are game to celebrate this amazing year for K-Pop through this rate. So I'm hoping that my words are enough to hush your worries a bit and make you excited again for the KSOTY Rate.
