I've enjoyed Real Groove from the start, but I do think it's one of those tracks that's more about the production and her vocal than about the song itself. I mean... where exactly does the chorus even start and begin? To me the best part of the song is that gorgeous mini-bridge -- in fact, I think it's stronger than the main verses/choruses. Melodically, the song doesn't feel as hooky as I think a Kylie single should, but, the production and her vocals feel very contemporary while still highlighting their disco (lowercase "d") references, so it may be the right choice. It's probably one of the cooler tracks on the whole album.
My personal favorite of the bunch, though “Till You Love Somebody” is pretty close. And “Fine Wine” bangs. And “Spotlight” is great, too. OK, I love everything on the album. Shoot me.
These are the Spotify statistics from that other site as of Tuesday streaming. Real Groove is doing incredibly well, it’s obvious why it’s the next single. Got the Say Something and Magic singles and the signed CD last week, but I’m still waiting for the Deluxe Marble Vinyl dispatched 10 days ago.
Yes, please. Magic is a cute album opener, but it's a bit limp in live performance. It would be fun to see her perform something with a bit more attitude, too, and Real Groove fits that mandate, too.
I was checking out one of the samples on Neon Nights the other day, "Thighs High" by Tom Browne, which is part of "Mighty Fine". And as I was listening I found myself humming the melody from "Spotlight".
The glow in the dark vinyl is no 1 on Amazon at the moment. Her reign as vinyl queen isn’t showing any signs of letting up.
Disco Darling is consuming me today. Can't stop listening and pretending to be part of that Infinite Disco performance.
