Agreed the 'me tonight' in the beginning makes me want more, please 12" single. tbh Dua is so prominent on the chorus I'm fine without her singing a verse, I also saw the show so never expected a verse. This is all good for Disco whatever the case. It's so Nile Rogers I love it.
So. I took my time re the new remix and didn’t listen to any previews. First listen through my iPhone. I totally get comments re Frankensteined. Second listen took place after a 15 minute break, punctuated by pet duties, on my Sony headphones. It clicked. This could totally be part of Club Future Nostalgia, which I loved. We lost a little sensuality but in its place, a funky breakdown and room to breathe. I’m definitely stanning.
A solo verse by Dua would have been good, but I love this remix thank you @WhereDoesTheDJGo for making the second half of 2020 more enjoyable.
My expectations went through the roof when I realised the potential this had. My first thought was (when I saw the extended runtime) “okay, Dua has a solo verse/the bridge, what could she contribute lyrically? Obviously she’s the girl Kylie is singing about.” And that was it, I’ll never be able to not fantasise about the Kylie vs Dua track that this could have transformed into in the second half. Still, the production boost is fantastic, it just needed Dua to perform one of the verses really. Fingers crossed this will expose Future Nostalgia fans to the equally wonderful Disco
The elevated production on this is transcendent. The breakdown is sublime and I love Dua's random "KYLIE!" moment- like she's low-key fangirl to be working with one of her icons. They're really giving the gays what they want, huh?
I didn’t really expect much else than b-roll audio from Studio2054 broadcast so I’m fine with the result. My only bigger complaint is that Dua’s vocals sound really tinny and harsh-mixed. I’m not deleting the original version from Spotify or anything but I’m definitely using this tonight in my living room.
Imagine putting this together and not including Say Something https://www.theguardian.com/music/2...s-survival-the-songs-that-got-us-through-2020
I love that we got this extra thing before this awful year rounds out. Not to be overly cheesy but In terms of music Kylie and Dua have been beacons of light this year and I love that we got the collab/remix.
