Kylie Minogue - Extension: The Extended Mixes (Dec 8)

Is a (lq) leak really a bad thing? It's drumming up conversation and interest for it with her core fans which will hopefully translate into outside interest.
Not really. Leaks don't really impact anything at this point in time. 99% of people who would listen to the song when it's released will still listen to the song when it's on Spotify. The people that were going to illegally download it will do that even when it's officially released. In this age where digital downloads are like... 14 sales, it's really not that big a deal.

If anything it's just shitty cause it's more of a spoiler than anything.

WAIT.

I kind of mentally checked out musically after Disco, even though the highlights and the era itself was great, and I was completely turned off by 10 out of 10. This, however, fucking slaps. It feels very current but is well made and a new territory for her, and feels fresh for one of her lead singles which is nice.

It's alright. I doubt it's anything I'll return to after the era's over. Feels a bit throwaway and inessential for Kylie, but it's kind of nice to hear her over some bigger, moodier beats again.

FINALLY a first single that doesn't sound like a retread.

PADAM PADAM
I HEAR IT AND I KNOW
PADAM PADAM
I KNOW YOU WANNA TAKE ME HOME
PADAM AND I TAKE OFF ALL MY CLOTHES

The production is a bit of its time (although, fortunately I don't really listen to anything that sounds like it), but I'm just happy it's a different--dark, sexy, icy--direction from her last few projects. My immediate touchpoints are like...Kavinsky and The Weeknd for whatever reason. And, yes, amateur TikTok producers. And this

The positive reception to "Padam Padam" makes it even more of a shame that it is a last minute inclusion and an outlier. I'm sure that KM16 will be largely solid, but it's a shame that "Padam Padam" slaps, but isn't indicative of the upcoming album.

Curious if the tracklist will change based on the reception to the single, if the album isn't out until later this year anyway. I assume she's recorded edgier songs during these sessions. Or maybe it'll be more like X and Kiss Me Once where it's just a mash of different sounds.
