Kylie Minogue - Extension: The Extended Mixes (Dec 8)

The song is a home run and I'm really looking forward to some extended mixes. I don't think the video is as heinous as some here do, but the lighting on the dancers is definitely dreadful. You can barely see the poor dears.

the overall lack of taste or... generally interesting point of view in a lot of her work in the last ten years has been curious.

What point of view are we expecting from Kylie Minogue in 2023? Golden surprised me because it felt more reflective and introspective than she'd been since the 90s. Disco was Disco, now this feels like the stronger side kind of frivolous, hook-loaded pop song she's been doing since 2002.

I haven’t checked out anything of Kylie’s in forever but the video came up on my recommended page and I loved it at first play. The colour grading/lighting feels off and cheap but overall it’s a really fun pop package!
The intro to the video is shockingly bad though, who on earth edited it…

I think the song is... fine. I mean I would leave it out as bait in a trap if I was trying to lure out and humanely release a homosexual that had been living in my walls and chewing through my wiring at night, but it's at least better produced than a lot of her material in the last decade. It's kind of like an A-tier Eurovision song that you're obsessed with the week after before promptly dropping from your life, which is also what I suspect will be happening with me here.

I've not watched the video as let's be perfectly honest, who cares about a Kylie video, but the overall lack of taste or... generally interesting point of view in a lot of her work in the last ten years has been curious. How many people saw that album cover and signed off on it? And that article a while ago when she thought she coined "emoto-pop"... Sis, you don't need to tell anyone with a head that your album will have emotive electro-pop. Come on.
It’s at least better produced? That’s a pretty nuts hot take in my view - the production on Disco is terrific. What is it exactly you are looking for -whats your Kylie touchstone so I can get a grip on the reason for this narrative.

Me in @RJF's trap waiting to be humanely released.

Love Padam Padam! This could well be a worldwide hit indeed, and I see popstars getting in her footprints, just like the previous album paved the way for big disco-inspired album in 2021/2022. Can’t believe she’s so effortlessly leading the trends in 2023!
