Kylie Minogue - Extension: The Extended Mixes (Dec 8)

I'd find it easier to excuse if the same issues weren't also present on Golden, an album not impacted by the pandemic.
I made the excuse that the country genre influenced the rawness and muddiness of the production on Golden, but I may be giving her too much grace. The issue could be down to how BMG handles mastering their albums. If so, I guess I should expect the same for KM16.

I think it works with Golden (except for Lifetime to Repair which could've been such an anthem but the production ruins it). For Disco, I think the mastering is brilliant for the non Sky Adams tracks. For tracks like Dancefloor Darling it works but the production on Supernova took it from a perfect song to a great song, and Monday Blues from a great song to a grating one.

And then the mastering on the extended mixes is actually good and honestly it’s my go to version of the album now.

I mostly prefer the extended versions but I think the album versions of Real Groove, Dance Floor Darling and Say Something are better.

I've been waiting to buy DISCO on vinyl because the deluxe version/2xLP version seemed too expensive/rare + the mixing being bad always kept me off. I don't really care for single LP standard editions too, but hearing that the extended mixes are better finished and that it's apparently a 2xLP set? Just got it for $17 total. It'll pair well next to my 3CD Guest List Edition for the bonus tracks...

I wonder how many formats and bundles we'll get this time around.

Well, sky is the limit, but I guess:
cd: standard + deluxe
vinyl: standard, maybe deluxe, and 3 or 4 colored vinyls. Are they playing with the cover like Taylor's Midnight ? Are they considering something like the clock you could make with the 4 different Midnight vinyls ?
I really hope this time the signed edition is properly signed and not a pronted card with her signature.

Alternate covers like Katy/Taylor did would be eaten up.

You can also bet on a re-release down the line. I don’t see the Guest List Edition being an isolated incident.
